New categories for DISTREE EMEA Diamond Awards

DISTREE Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) 2016 will host the second annual DISTREE Diamond Awards in the region. The DISTREE Diamond Awards are open to all technology brands participating at DISTREE EMEA. The 2016 DISTREE Diamond Awards for EMEA will cover 22 separate categories including hot product categories such as drones and robotics, headphones, smart home solutions and wearables. Alexandra Sinson, Event Director for DISTREE EMEA, said: “Some brands have amazing products. Some brands have exceptional go-to-market models. DISTREE announces 2016 calendar of events

DISTREE Events has officially announced its 2016 event calendar, with six consumer technology channel events planned around the world. The company is also launching an additional event in the Middle East region in 2016 focused on the SMB reseller channel. In addition, DISTREE Events will stage a new two-day exhibition in Paris, in association with Innov8 Group, focused on the growth areas of connected devices, wearables, drones, robotics, accessories and smart home products. Innov8 teams with DISTREE for ConnectDays Paris event

Innov8, a leading distributor of connected products and services in France, has teamed up with DISTREE Events to launch a unique two-day event in 2016 focused on connected products, smartphones, accessories and distribution 2.0 business models. Dixons Carphone developing Knowhow button for homes

Dixons Carphone is pushing forward with a smart home monitoring and support service. Steve Moore, connected home director at Dixons Carphone, detailed plans to provide a connected ‘Knowhow button’ in homes that customers could press in case of problems and receive a rapid response. The scheme would allow the retail giant to monitor homes, respond to problems and even put customers in touch with an appropriate local tradesperson if required. Read full story

Mobile device vendor Ctroniq teamed up with hypermarket chain Lulu in Saudi Arabia for a special ‘222’ promotion as the relationship between the two companies continues to grow and flourish. Atheeq Ahmed, general manager at Headlinks (Ctroniq), said: “For the exclusive launch of the Ctroniq C70R with Lulu Saudi Arabia we worked on the concept theme of ‘222’ to add value to customers - a two-sim 3G tablet with two cameras, dual core processor and two year warranty, priced at SAR222 (US$59). Huntkey powers into UAE with Sharaf DG

Power supply products vendor Huntkey has announced a deal with UAE-based retailer Sharaf DG. Under the terms of the agreement, Sharaf DG will start stocking Huntkey power strips. Sharaf DG operates 26 stores across the UAE. Huntkey is launching its latest SZN Series in Sharaf DG, including the following three models: SZN401, SZN501 and SZN507. Read full story

Dixons Carphone buys Infocare Workshop

Elkjøp, the Nordic division of retail giant Dixons Carphone, has entered into an agreement to buy Infocare Workshop, a service and repair company in the region. The acquisition, which remains subject to Norwegian Competition Authority approval, is in line with the company’s strategy of owning the complete end-to-end customer service journey. The deal will enable Elkjøp under the Knowhow service brand, to offer even better and more consistent service repair levels to its customers. Read full story

Ctroniq boosts online reach with wadi.com

Device vendor Ctroniq has boosted its Middle East e-tail channel reach, striking a deal to push its products through wadi.com. Middle East Internet Group (MEIG), a joint venture between Rocket Internet Group and MTN, officially launched wadi.com earlier this year as an e-commerce portal initially covering the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
