Jumia partners with Posta Kenya

Online marketplace Jumia has partnered with Posta Kenya to allow its customers to pick up items they purchase on the website from post offices across the country. Parinaz Firozi managing director at Jumia Kenya, said: “We are delighted that our customers can now pick up items they order on Jumia from selected post offices across the country; this is a new direction in providing a stress-free, safe and convenient shopping experience.” Read full story

BQ targets Russian retail channel

Technology brand BQ will look to build retail channel reach in Russia through its participation at DISTREE Russia & CIS 2015. PC World Kenya urges vendors to change approach

Bobby Gadhia, CEO at retailer PC World in Kenya, has urged technology vendors to change the way they approach African markets. Speaking during a panel discussion at DISTREE Africa, Gadhia said: “Most vendors are hungry for business in Africa, but the most important thing now is for them to shift from a product and price approach and to start building real channel relationships in the region. Copy and paste strategies that work elsewhere may not work here, so a great deal of localisation is needed.” Read full story

Jumia rolls out mobile week promotion

Seven days, seven different mobile brands tempting consumers with hugely aggressive price points and deep discounts. That’s the simple concept behind e-tailer Jumia’s new mobile week promotion running from June 1st to 7th. The seven vendors lined up to take part one after the other from Monday to Sunday for Jumia in the Ivory Coast are Innjoo, Microsoft, Itel, LG, Infinix, Samsung and X-tigi. Jumia doubles warehouse space in Ivory Coast

African e-tailer Jumia has doubled the size of its Ivory Coast warehouse as the company continues to grow rapidly. Jumia relocated its Treichville warehouse to a brand new 2,000 square metre facility in the industrial zone of Koumassi, a suburb of Abidjan. The new high-tech warehouse is twice the size of the previous facility. Read full story
