Oppo announces exclusive Dick Smith deal in Australia

Mobile phone brand Oppo has announced an exclusive mass retail partnership with Australian technology retail colossus Dick Smith. The deal will see Oppo’s full range of handsets and accessories available for purchase from nearly 400 Dick Smith outlets nationwide from July 14th. The latest OPPO products, the R7 and R7 Plus, will be sold at Dick Smith. Read full story

iBox opens new outlet in Indonesia

iBox, the leading Apple Premium Reseller (APR) in Indonesia, recently opened a new store in Bandung, West Java. The new store, located in Bandung Electronic Centre (BEC), is the third iBox in the city, joining existing branches in Dago and Palace Plaza. In total, iBox operates more than 40 outlets across Indonesia as well as multiple Apple service centres. iBox is a business unit of Erajaya Group. Read full story

Challenger signs Sembawang lease

Singapore-based retailer Challenger Technologies has signed a lease for a new store in the Sembawang Shopping Centre (SSC). The new lease forms part of Challenger’s ongoing plans to focus on its retail operation by expanding to suitable locations in Singapore. Jumia partners with Posta Kenya

Online marketplace Jumia has partnered with Posta Kenya to allow its customers to pick up items they purchase on the website from post offices across the country. PC World Kenya urges vendors to change approach

Bobby Gadhia, CEO at retailer PC World in Kenya, has urged technology vendors to change the way they approach African markets. Speaking during a panel discussion at DISTREE Africa, Gadhia said: “Most vendors are hungry for business in Africa, but the most important thing now is for them to shift from a product and price approach and to start building real channel relationships in the region. Copy and paste strategies that work elsewhere may not work here, so a great deal of localisation is needed.” Read full story
