Empa picks up Fujitsu award

Dubai-based distributor Empa has picked up a partner award from Fujitsu Technology Solutions during the vendor’s recent channel event in the Middle East. United Matbouli revamps Samsung service centre

United Matbouli Group, a distributor for Samsung Electronics in Saudi Arabia, has reopened its Jeddah service centre for customers using Samsung products. The 1,500 square metre service centre is located in the Al Ruwais district of Jeddah. United Matbouli has also constructed a 1,000 square metre spare parts warehouse in the city’s Al Khumrah district. Read full story

Logicom adds APC rights in UAE

Logicom has extended its Middle East distribution agreement with APC by Schneider Electric to cover the UAE market. Distributor Logicom has held APC rights in Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Yemen for the last three years and has delivered continuous growth in these markets. APC by Schneider Electric supplies uninterruptable power supplies (UPS), environmental management systems and data centre solutions. Read full story

Shastech signs Samsung service deal in Saudi Arabia

Samsung has struck a deal with Shastech to use its Saudi Arabian partner’s Icare outlets as authorised maintenance centres for the vendor’s mobile phone and tablet products in the Kingdom. The agreement will see Shastech provide technical support and services for Samsung devices. Read full story

Elko signs TP-Link distribution deal

Latvia-based emerging markets distributor Elko Group has added networking vendor TP-Link to its product portfolio. The two companies have struck a deal that will see Elko distribute TP-Link networking kit across Russia, Ukraine and the Baltic States. TP-Link’s product range includes routers, switches, IP cameras, powerline adapters, print servers, media converters and network adapters. Read full story

Distribution giant Ingram Micro’s EMEA operation has picked up three operational excellence awards at Microsoft’s regional partner conference. Esquire snaps up ISP stake

South Africa-based distributor Esquire Technologies has picked up a 50% stake in ISP outfit SA Gateway for an undisclosed sum. SA Gateway management holds the remaining 50% in the company. Esquire claims that the deal is in line with its ongoing internet strategy. The distributor plans to put itself in a position where it can offer very competitive rates for internet-based communications to its 12,000-strong reseller base. Read full story

Mimecast gains channel momentum

Cloud e-mail specialist Mimecast reckons that it is continuing to gaim momentum in the security channel. Mimecast, a supplier of cloud-based email archiving, continuity and security for Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, has announced a number of new channel partnerships including Infosec Technologies, Security Partnerships and LIMA Networks. Mimecast claims that its ability to tailor and structure bespoke proposals to meet the needs of each partner was the deciding factor for many of its new resellers. Read full story

Westcoast strikes Sandisk deal

UK-based distributor Westcoast has struck a distribution deal with Sandisk covering the memory vendor’s USB flash drives and new Extreme solid state drives (SSDs). Westcoast claims that the deal will strengthen its position in the storage market allowing it to capitalise on the already established and widely recognised Sandisk brand. Read full story
