Arrow and Oracle aim to accelerate channel cloud sales

TechAccess gains Huawei CSP status in UAE

Middle East and North Africa (MENA) VAD outfit TechAccess has gained certified service partner (CSP) status from Huawei for the UAE. TechAccess began its relationship with Huawei earlier in the year and is the vendor’s only GCC-wide distributor. TechAccess has assigned a dedicated team to cover several countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Read full story

Tech Data to buy Technology Solutions business from Avnet

NASDAQ-quoted global distribution giant Tech Data will stump up US$2.6 billion to acquire the Technology Solutions business from rival distributor Avnet. Tech Data will shell out US$2.4 billion cash, plus 2.785 million Tech Data shares, to buy the business. Tech Data expects to achieve annual cost savings of approximately US$100m within two years after closing, primarily from efficiencies related to technology platforms, as well as streamlining duplicated functions and corporate expenses. Tech Data Mobile expects Moto sales to motor in UK

Distributor Tech Data Mobile expects to see strong UK demand for new additions to Lenovo’s Moto smartphone family now being made available to dealers and retailers. Lenovo Mobile Business Group (MBG) has now launched the ultra-thin and powerful Moto Z series of premium smartphones and the more affordable Moto E3 range, which – with its new 5-inch, 720p HD screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and an RRP of under £100 (US$132) – is expected to have an impact at the value end of the market. Tech Data Europe signs Silent Circle deal

Distribution giant Tech Data Europe has announced a European agreement with Silent Circle, a global leader in mobile security. Silent Circle offers private and encrypted mobile devices, software applications, and communication management services to corporations, governments and individuals worldwide. Nuvias acquires Dubai-based SCD

VAD outfit Nuvias has acquired SCD, a distributor operating out of Dubai. The new office will now act as a hub for Nuvias’ MEA activities, covering all parts of the GCC, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Nuvias is building an EMEA-wide, high-value, specialist distribution business, with a common proposition and consistent delivery.
