Redington unveils new brand identity

Distributor Redington has whipped the covers off its new global brand identity including a new logo and tagline. The distributor has significant presence in India, South Asia, Middle East, Turkey and Africa with sales running at approximately US$6 billion per annum. Established in Chennai in 1993, Redington’s new tagline is ‘Seamless Partnerships’. With a strong network of 37,500 partners, Redington currently distributes more than 200 brands across 24 markets. ALSO establishes transformation team

Distribution giant ALSO has established an interdisciplinary transformation executive team (TET). The new TET team will drive forward ALSO’s transformation into an end-to-end solutions provider, according to the distributor. The 12-member TET, which consists of digital natives and experienced employees between the ages of 31 and 55, is to play an active role in shaping the company’s digitalisation, optimising business structures and developing new business models. Distributor winners announced for ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2018 Awards’ at DISTREE EMEA

The ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2018 Awards’ were held in conjunction with regional consumer tech channel hosted buyer event DISTREE EMEA 2018. The awards included a series of 11 awards for consumer technology distributors, with the winners announced during DISTREE EMEA, which took place in Monaco. A total of 11 distributors received awards with ABC Data, ALSO, ASBIS, CMS Distribution, Esprinet, Exertis, Ingram Micro, Merlion, Mitsumi, Redington and Tech Data all winning one apiece. Tech Data announces European storage deal with Samsung

Distribution giant Tech Data has announced that global computing components (GCC), a specialised solution business within Tech Data, has entered into a pan-European agreement with Samsung’s semiconductors division to distribute its enterprise flash storage and DRAM memory products. Through the agreement, customers across Tech Data’s entire European footprint now have access to Samsung’s range of storage and memory solutions, including enterprise and datacentre SSD and DRAM modules. ALSO boosts sales and profits in 2017

Distribution giant ALSO boosted its sales 11.4% year-on-year in calendar 2017 to hit €8.9 billion (US$10.99 billion). Net profits for the year jumped 11.2% to €92.5m (US$114.24m) – a net profit margin of 1.04%. The company has raided its proposed dividend by 22.2% on the back of the results. Gustavo Möller-Hergt, CEO of ALSO Holding, said: “This is an excellent result. We have exceeded our goals for 2017, while continuing to drive the transformation of our company forward and consistently implementing our strategy.” Read full story

Nuvias appointed EMEA distributor for BlueJeans Network

VAD Nuvias has signed a pan-EMEA distribution agreement with BlueJeans Network, a cloud service to connect desktops, mobile devices and room systems in one video meeting. BlueJeans brings video, audio and web conferencing together with the collaboration tools people use every day. Nuvias will be bundling the BlueJeans’ platform with videoconferencing devices from Polycom to provide solutions which scale from SMEs up to large enterprises. Read full story

DISTREE EMEA 2018 concludes in Monaco

The 16th annual DISTREE Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) consumer tech regional channel event finished last Friday in Monaco. Hundreds of tech brands were represented at this year’s event, holding pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with senior executives and buyers from the region’s leading distributors, retailers and channel partners. Indian distributor Rashi Peripherals has strengthened its value-add credentials by rolling out a systems integrator (SI) training programme for channel partners. The scheme aims to provide partners with in-depth product training and guide them on sales strategy.
