Rectron signs up Samsung and Epson

South African channel giant Rectron has expanded its vendor portfolio, signing a deal with Samsung to distribute the vendor giant’s complete range of mono and colour laser printers and consumables across the country. Rectron has also struck a new distribution agreement with Epson. The deals come just weeks after HP and Rectron ended a printer distribution agreement. Read full story

Mobile device outfit i-mate has announced a new Middle East partnership with distribution powerhouse Redington. Under the terms of the channel partnership Redington will increase the availability of i-mate products in stores and enhance resellers and retail support in the UAE, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar. Blouin takes on tough job at Bell

Bell Microproducts has named Marc Blouin as VP finance and chief accounting officer. In his new role Bouin will look after Bell’s accounting operations and corporate accounting functions, such as consolidations, SEC reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Blouin faces a tough first few weeks at Bell. The company was delisted from NASDAQ last week for failing to file overdue reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Read full story

DNS Arrow takes on Tumbleweed

DNS Arrow has struck a distribution agreement with Tumbleweed Communications covering the UK and Ireland. The deal will see specialist IT distributor DNS Arrow focus on selling Tumbleweed’s SecureTransport product, which the two companies claim is well placed to meet the demands of the rapidly growing managed file transfer market. Bell Micro delisted from NASDAQ

Bell Microproducts has been delisted from NASDAQ for failing to file overdue reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The value-added distributor has stated that it, ‘is working diligently to complete this process and will promptly seek relisting of its common stock once completed’. Read full story

Westcon Germany has been named Nortel distributor of the year in recognition of the distributor’s ConvergencePoint programme, which was highlighted as a differentiating factor in helping resellers achieve greater success. Iraqi IT powerhouse Al-Naba’a Network Solutions has been appointed as a distributor by networking vendor Netgear. With Iraq’s IT market forecast to reach US$1.1 billion in 2008, interest in signing up in-country channel partners is growing apace.
