Ingram Micro plans EMEA restructuring

Global distribution behemoth Ingram Micro is planning to restructure its EMEA operations, with a focus on the regional headquarters. The announcement came as Ingram reported first quarter 2008 worldwide sales of US$8.58 billion – a 4% year-on-year rise. After-tax profits hit US$64.1m – a margin of just 0.75%. Read full story

i2 targets Sub-Sahara region

Mobile phone distribution and retail giant i2 had officially opened a new office in Johannesburg, South Africa, as the company sets its sights on rapid expansion in the Sub-Saharan region. The new regional office will oversee i2 activities in Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Angola, Reunion and Senegal. i2 plans to aggressively ramp up the number of retail outlets it has in the Sub-Saharan region. AirMagnet attracted to Westcon

Channel powerhouse Westcon Group has struck a distribution agreement covering Europe and the Middle East with AirMagnet, a global provider of intrusion detection and prevention systems for wireless networks. Westcon will carry AirMagnet’s entire product portfolio and will focus initially on channel sales in the French and Spanish markets. Read full story

BitDefender finds Focus for UK push

Internet security software outfit BitDefender has struck a national marketing and distribution agreement with Focus Multimedia in the UK.
