Middle East components distributor Golden Systems has picked up a partner award from Gigabyte in recognition of its efforts to promote and sell the vendor’s products in the region. Johnson Lin, CEO at Gigabyte, presented the partner award to Golden Systems’ Ehsan Hashemi during Computex 2008 held in Taiwan.

Brightstar launches global accessories unit
Wireless device distribution giant Brightstar has whipped the covers off its new global accessories company called Brightstar Accessories. The new unit, which will be headquartered in Miami, will focus on the procurement, marketing, sales and distribution of innovative mobile device accessories to operator, retail and dealer customers worldwide. Brightstar has named former Jabra executive Morten Steen-Jorgensen as president and CEO of the new company.

Aptec selects Exactus solution
Middle East distribution giant Aptec will implement a new warehouse management system (WMS) from Exactus. The deal, which was announced by BSG - the regional partner and competency centre for Exactus - will see Aptec implement the Aware WMS to help manage its fulfillment and distribution operations. The solution will initially be installed at Aptec’s distribution centre in Jebel Ali Free Zone, UAE.

Middle East networking VAD Online Distribution has added Avaya’s enterprise portfolio to its vendor line-up. The deal covers the entire Middle East region excluding Saudi Arabia. Online says that the deal is significant for its convergent technologies business. The company will push Avaya’s internet protocol telephony systems, communications software applications and services through its reseller base.
