CommVault announces Magirus deal
CommVault has turned to pan-European VAD Magirus to build up the channel to market for its latest data and information management solutions. Magirus will now offer CommVault Simpana software as part of its storage and data management portfolio. The distribution deal covers the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland.

Middle East distribution house Mindware has finalised its plan to relocate its UAE warehouse facility from Dubai Cargo Village to Jebel Ali by July 6th 2008. Mindware reckons that the move will bring significant advantages, allowing it to leverage logistics capabilities and high-tech communications infrastructure available within Jebel Ali Free Zone.

Value-added distributor FVC has extended its business-focused distribution deal with Nokia to cover a wider range of products and services and new territories. The original contract FVC held with Nokia permitted sales of security products in Africa only. This has now been extended to cover the entire Middle East.

Gridz bills itself as a business solutions organisation offering IT solutions and consulting services. Adnan Al-Falah, a former managing director of Tech Data Middle East, is chairman of Gridz.

Pinnacle adds Phoenix in South Africa
Phoenix Software has struck a deal to distribute the full range of Pinnacle System products in the South African market. The agreement includes distribution rights for Pinnacle Studio, the vendor’s video editing solution. Pinnacle Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Avid Technology, is a strong player in the provision of home video editing and TV viewing tools for the consumer market.

Avnet grabs gold status with Fujitsu Services
Avnet Technology Solution (ATS) has been awarded gold distributor status by Fujitsu Services. The elevated status is the highest available in Fujitsu’s supplier management programme and is based on ATS meeting stringent performance and legislative criteria. ATS is one of six gold distributors in the Fujitsu Services’ supplier management programme.

Komplett pulls out of Western Europe
Norway-based e-commerce outfit Komplett has shut up shop in Western Europe. The company, which sells components, PCs, home electronics and related kit to end-users and resellers, has pulled the online shutters down on its websites in the UK, Germany, France and Austria. Komplett’s loss-making operations in Western Europe accounted for just 6% of group sales in the first quarter of 2008.
