Brightstar launches global accessories unit

Wireless device distribution giant Brightstar has whipped the covers off its new global accessories company called Brightstar Accessories. The new unit, which will be headquartered in Miami, will focus on the procurement, marketing, sales and distribution of innovative mobile device accessories to operator, retail and dealer customers worldwide. Brightstar has named former Jabra executive Morten Steen-Jorgensen as president and CEO of the new company. Read full story

Overland appoints UK channel manager

Overland Storage has strengthened its team with the appointment of Dean Strutton as channel account manager for the UK. Strutton joins Overland from IT storage distributor CMS Peripherals. Avnet extends Colubris rights to Germany

Avnet Technology Solutions has extended its distribution deal with Colubris Networks to cover Germany. The move comes following the successful business relationship between Colubris and Avnet in the UK. Aptec selects Exactus solution

Middle East distribution giant Aptec will implement a new warehouse management system (WMS) from Exactus. The deal, which was announced by BSG - the regional partner and competency centre for Exactus - will see Aptec implement the Aware WMS to help manage its fulfillment and distribution operations. The solution will initially be installed at Aptec’s distribution centre in Jebel Ali Free Zone, UAE. Read full story

South River signs WBC for France

South River Technologies has signed up WBC as a distributor to develop the channel to market for a French version of the vendor’s WebDrive product. WBC will exclusively distribute WebDrive – a universal file access client that South River claims enables users to securely access, edit and manage documents on remote servers through the convenience of a drive letter. TDME finalises Qimonda deal

Track Distribution Middle East (TDME) – the new incarnation of global giant Tech Data’s discarded Middle East enterprise and components business – has finalised a distribution deal for Qimonda’s Aeneon memory products covering the UAE, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Online adds Avaya enterprise portfolio

Middle East networking VAD Online Distribution has added Avaya’s enterprise portfolio to its vendor line-up. The deal covers the entire Middle East region excluding Saudi Arabia. Online says that the deal is significant for its convergent technologies business. The company will push Avaya’s internet protocol telephony systems, communications software applications and services through its reseller base. Read full story

Ingram Micro confirms second quarter guidance

Global distribution giant Ingram Micro has reaffirmed its financial guidance for the second quarter ending June 2008. The company still expects sales to come in at between US$8.5billion and US$8.75billion with profits in the range of US$59m to US$64m. Ingram’s profit forecasts do not take into account costs related to the expense reduction plans underway in EMEA and North America. Read full story
