Ingram Micro EMEA snaps up Intertrade

Distribution giant Ingram Micro EMEA has snapped up VAD Intertrade to create what it describes as ‘pan-European market reach’ for data capture and point of sale business. Intertrade sells automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) technologies to solution providers and systems integrators. Terms of the deal, which is expected to close by the year-end, were not disclosed. Read full story

Sparxent plans Russia ramp up with Arbyte move

Sparxent, a US-based start-up VAR with aggressive worldwide expansion plans, has signed a letter of intent to snap up Moscow-based IT service provider Arbyte. Sparxent wants to position itself as a vendor agnostic midmarket IT and business solution provider and is preparing a string of acquisitions to make its mark in this sector. Arbyte Group has a significant customer base in the Russian Federation and Ukraine. Read full story

AMD makes MAK move in Egypt

Components giant AMD has strengthened its distribution channel in Egypt, signing up EMAK, part of MAK Holding for Industry. The latest distributor appointment is part of AMD’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in Egypt. AMD recently appointed hardware distributors Gamma and Quest in Egypt as well. Azlan bags D-Link project deal in Europe

Tech Data’s Azlan unit has been picked to provide distribution services for networking outfit D-Link as part of a project to supply equipment to cinemas across Europe. D-Link is providing Arts Alliance Media (AAM), one of Europe’s leading providers of digital film distribution services, with the network infrastructure for digital cinemas throughout the European region. C-MI Labs lands DES distribution deal

Data Encryption Systems (DES) has struck a distribution deal with C-MI Labs. Under the terms of the deal C-MI, which bills itself as a specialist online distributor of security technology, will sell DES’s encryption tool, DESlock+, to its UK reseller base. Read full story

Quintum adds Italian VAD

VoIP technologies vendor Quintum has signed up Bludis as a value-added distributor in Italy. Bludis, which offers VoIP expertise and services to resellers in Italy, will spearhead Quintum’s efforts in the country. Bludis will support and develop Quintum’s Tenor VoIP switch and gateway business and also target new Microsoft initiatives with Microsoft Office communications server 2007. Read full story

South African distribution house Pinnacle Micro and Sony Storage have called time on their channel partnership. Pinnacle and Sony Storage terminated their relationship at the beginning of September 2008, with the distributor citing ‘differing opinions’ as the reason for the split. Read full story
