Bell Micro prepares Pillar thriller for UK resellers

Specialist value-added distributor (VAD) Bell Micro has signed up Pillar Data Systems in the UK. The distribution deal will see Bell Micro push Pillar’s application aware storage systems to resellers in the UK. The agreement builds on an existing relationship in the US. Read full story

Ironkey opens European office

Secure flash drive vendor Ironkey is opening a European office in the UK to support its growth in the region. Ironkey has appointed Jon Fielding as sales director in the UK office. Fielding will head up the company’s efforts to market and sell its secure USB memory sticks throughout Europe. Read full story

Investcorp injects US$98m into Redington Gulf

Asset management firm Investcorp has agreed a US$98m investment in Middle East and Africa distribution giant Redington Gulf. The deal will make Investcorp a minority shareholder in Redington Gulf with a 36% stake, according to Redington India - the parent company of Redington Gulf. The deal values Redington Gulf at US$272m. Read full story

Sitronics appoints VP for strategy

Russian IT and telecoms giant Sitronics has appointed Oksana Kovalevskaya as its new VP for strategy. Sitronics already has a strong presence in Russia and the CIS and is also now growing its presence in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Kovalevskaya previously held the position of deputy general director for strategy and M&A at Sistema Mass Media. Read full story

Brightpoint bags Nokia in UK and Samsung in South Africa

Brightpoint UK has been named as a distributor in the UK market by mobile phone giant Nokia. Under the terms of the agreement, Brightpoint GB – the UK subsidiary of the mobile channel giant – will provide Nokia with distribution services. Brightpoint has also announced that its African operation, which started operations in August 2007, has been awarded distribution rights for Samsung mobiles and accessories in South Africa. Computerlinks gets physical in the UK

Value-added distributor Computerlinks has whipped the covers off a new IP physical security division in the UK and Ireland and signed up a couple of vendors to help it make headway in the market. Computerlinks has signed deals to distribute a range of IP surveillance products from Panasonic System Solutions Europe and open platform IP video management software from Milestone Systems. ICIDU names Exit40 master distributor

ICIDU has confirmed the appointment of Exit40 as its official master distributor for the UAE and wider Middle East region. ICIDU bills itself as a provider of IT accessories, which are sold through innovative retail concepts. ICIDU has set its sights on the Middle East and will look to develop its ‘clever shop’ concept, which it claims offers retailers high quality kit, high margins per square metre and strong sales potential. Ingram names Wallner as Austria boss

Ingram Micro EMEA has appointed Florian Wallner as managing director of the distribution giant’s Austrian operation. Wallner replaces Erich Bernschere, who was named VP business operations strategy for Ingram Micro EMEA based in Brussels. Wallner previously held the position of CFO at Ingram Micro Austria. Zycko lands in Spain

Value-added distributor Zycko has continued its rapid European expansion, announcing the launch of its newest office in Spain. Zycko, which focuses on pushing convergent IT solutions, has opened its latest office in Las Rozas outside Madrid. The new facility will incorporate configuration, testing and a repair facility. Früchtenicht lands sales role at Actebis Peacock

Kai Kadri Früchtenicht has been named senior sales director at German distribution outfit Actebis Peacock and will start at the beginning of December 2008. Früchtenicht, 43, succeeds Torsten Seiferth, who is leaving the Actebis Group after thirteen years. Früchtenicht has more than 15 years of sales experience in IT and media distribution and retail.
