Sunny Leone confirmed as XTOUCH brand ambassador

Consumer technology brand XTOUCH has signed Bollywood actress Sunny Leone as its brand ambassador. Leone currently has more than 1.9 million followers on Twitter. The Bollywood superstar will feature in a new integrated marketing campaign for XTOUCH, which will run simultaneously on print, electronic, online and social media channels as well as in-store promotions for the next year. Navdy hits channel accelerator with CMS, Core and Lionfish

Navdy, the company behind an augmented driving device for the car that lets users look forward while staying connected, is ramping up its global channel reach and signing up distributors across EMEA and further afield. Navdy has appointed CMS as a distributor for the UK, Netherlands and Nordics, with Lionfish on board in the Gulf region, and Core Group signed up in South Africa. Chlebek to lead Ingram Micro pan-EMEA division

Distribution colossus Ingram Micro has announced that Mark Chlebek has been promoted to executive director of the company’s pan-EMEA division, overseeing the purchasing and business management team for centralised EMEA vendors. Current lead Robert Beck, VP pan-Europe and purchasing Europe, is to leave Ingram Micro after more than 25 years. Read full story

ViewSonic teams up with Maverick

ViewSonic, a leading provider of visual solution products, has entered a new UK-wide agreement with AV distribution expert Maverick, following the success of their collaborations in France and Spain. The agreement sees Maverick become an official distributor of ViewSonic’s AV products. Maverick are now offering next day availability on ViewSonic product ranges to its channel partners. ALSO teams with Intcomex for Latin America cloud push

Distributors ALSO and Intcomex have formed a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) partnership for the ALSO cloud marketplace to serve Latin America and the Caribbean. The two companies are joining forces to make the ALSO cloud marketplace platform-as-a-service (PaaS) available to more than 50,000 Intcomex channel partners in 14 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with plans to expand further in the region. Tech Data appoints Zammit as European boss

Distribution giant Tech Data has appointed Patrick Zammit as president, Tech Data Europe. Zammit will report into Tech Data’s executive VP and COO, Rich Hume. Zammit was formerly global president, Avnet Technology Solutions (ATS), prior to the acquisition by Tech Data. He previously led Avnet’s Electronics Marketing (EM) EMEA components business and held leadership roles across finance, operations and strategic planning at Avnet. Prior to joining Avnet, he was with Arthur Andersen. Read full story

Tech Data wins big at ECA 2017 distributor awards

The ‘EMEA Channel Academy (ECA): 2017 Awards’ were held in conjunction with last week’s regional channel event DISTREE EMEA 2017. These included a series of 11 awards for consumer technology distributors, with the winners announced during DISTREE EMEA, which took place in Monaco. A total of seven distributors received awards with a dominant Tech Data winning in five regions, and ABC Data, Asbis, EET Group, Merlion, Microline and Mitsumi winning one each. Read full story

DISTREE EMEA 2017 drives regional channel development

The 15th annual DISTREE Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) consumer tech regional channel event took place last week in Monaco. More than 120 consumer tech brands exhibited at this year’s event, holding pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with senior executives and buyers from the region’s leading distributors and channel partners.
