Tech Data wins big at ECA 2017 distributor awards

The ‘EMEA Channel Academy (ECA): 2017 Awards’ were held in conjunction with last week’s regional channel event DISTREE EMEA 2017. These included a series of 11 awards for consumer technology distributors, with the winners announced during DISTREE EMEA, which took place in Monaco. A total of seven distributors received awards with a dominant Tech Data winning in five regions, and ABC Data, Asbis, EET Group, Merlion, Microline and Mitsumi winning one each. Read full story

More than 120 consumer tech brands exhibited at this year’s event, holding pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with senior executives and buyers from the region’s leading distributors and channel partners. Arrow named strategic global distributor for Dell EMC

VAD outfit Arrow Electronics has been named to the list of key global distribution partners for Dell EMC’s new integrated partner programme. “The Dell EMC program offers Arrow’s global IT reseller ecosystem great opportunities to deliver enhanced customer value and increased profitability,” said Sean Kerins, president of Arrow’s global enterprise computing solutions business. “Arrow is proud to collaborate with Dell EMC on this new channel programme, which combines the best of the legacy Dell and EMC partner programmes.” Read full story

diHouse confirmed for DISTREE EMEA

More than 20 Russian distributors will attend this week’s DISTREE EMEA consumer tech channel event in Monaco, giving exhibitors access to the country’s top partners. Among the Russian delegation is diHouse, a distributor established more than 20 years ago, which now carries a wide portfolio of consumer technology brands. Trigono targets innovative products at DISTREE EMEA

Hundreds of distributors from across EMEA will assess the latest consumer tech products at this week’s DISTREE EMEA in Monaco. The channel matchmaking event lets exhibiting brands pre-schedule one-on-one meetings with senior executives and buyers from distributors. Comet ‘buoyant’ on floating smartphone demand

Comet will showcase ‘the world’s first buoyant smartphone’ at this week’s DISTREE EMEA event in Monaco, bringing distributors from across the region up to speed on the product’s features and technology. Comet has been working on testing and manufacturing processes for the last 12 months and is now ready to build out its routes-to-market. A pre-order campaign resulted in orders from 42 countries and interest from distributors in Europe, Asia and North America. In total, Comet has already secured orders for 500,000 devices, according to the vendor. Read full story

XTOUCH recognises Redington’s role

Consumer electronics brand XTOUCH has named Middle East and Africa distribution giant Redington as its best strategic partner of the year for 2016. XTOUCH recognised Redington for its outstanding contribution it has made towards the growth of XTOUCH brand in the region. Since 2013, the two companies have been working closely to build XTOUCH’s brand in the smartphone market and increase market share. Read full story

ActiveJet eyes international expansion

Supplies and accessories brand ActiveJet will use DISTREE EMEA as a platform for further international channel expansion. ActiveJet, a brand operated by Polish distribution giant Action, focuses on three product categories: imaging and printing supplies, energy products and accessories. Rafał Ornowski, brand director at ActiveJet, said: “We are a leading brand in Central and Eastern Europe. ActiveJet products are now available in almost all European countries." Read full story
