Ingram Micro adds FireEye rights in MEA

Distributor Ingram Micro has signed a distribution deal with FireEye, a provider of cybersecurity and malware protection solutions. With this agreement, Ingram Micro is authorised to distribute all FireEye products and solutions in Gulf countries, plus Egypt, Libya, Lebanon and Jordan. The deal also covers Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and South Africa. Read full story

Ingram Micro partners with Nexthink in META

Distribution giant Ingram Micro has partnered with IT analytics solution provider Nexthink. Ingram Micro has been confirmed as a Nexthink VAD for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa (META) region. It is hoped that the partnership will help the distributor tap into the growing IT operations analytics market, which is expected to reach US$9.79 billion per annum by 2020. Read full story

EMEA distributors identify gaming as a top consumer tech channel growth opportunity for 2017

Gaming products and gaming accessories show strong potential for growth in 2017, according to consumer tech distributors operating in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. Early analysis of DISTREE EMEA’s regional consumer tech distributor survey indicates that 42% of distributors view gaming as a top three category in terms of growth potential in 2017. HMD Global is new home of Nokia phones

Nokia has confirmed that the strategic agreement covering branding rights and intellectual property licensing with HMD Global Oy (HMD), originally announced on May 18, 2016 has come into force. HMD has today announced the completion of transactions between HMD, FIH Mobile Limited (a subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industries trading as Foxconn Technology Group) and Microsoft, which means that HMD can begin operations as the new home of Nokia phones, under an exclusive global brand licence for the next ten years, excluding Japan. BeyondTrust and Westcon-Comstor expand deal

Security vendor BeyondTrust has joined VAD Westcon-Comstor’s Accelerate programme. With the agreement, BeyondTrust expands it distribution footprint globally. The move underscores growing demand for security solutions that guard against insider threats and data breaches for businesses of all sizes. End-user demand for better security visibility, control and protection have reached new heights, in part because the number of data breaches so far in 2016 has increased nearly 20% compared to last year, according to the Identity Theft Resource Centre. Axilspot enters MEA market

Axilspot, a global vendor in enterprise wireless networking, has announced the launch of its operations in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. As part of its regional expansion plans, the company will appoint distributors and strengthen its channel network by recruiting partners across the region. Marvo to expand EMEA channels for gaming kit

China-based brand Marvo will look to expand its distribution reach in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region in 2017. With a comprehensive portfolio of gaming products and accessories, Marvo will attend DISTREE EMEA 2017 in February in Monaco to meet face-to-face with senior executives from the region’s leading consumer tech distributors. Fossil VP claims style will drive Middle East wearables growth

Preston Moxcey, VP at accessories manufacturer Fossil Group and GM of wearables brand Misfit, reckons that style will be the driving factor behind the growth of wearables in the Middle East market. Wearable devices may not have exploded onto the scene in the Middle East as projected by some industry quarters but, with time, they have wiggled their way into consumers’ lives. Fitness trackers and activity monitors, for example, are a common sight on wrists, and sporting a smartwatch doesn’t warrant quite as many inquisitive stares as it did some time ago. Read full story
