WD appoints CMS for Red hard drives

Storage vendor WD has appointed CMS Distribution as a regional OEM for the UK and Ireland. Under the terms of the deal, CMS will populate and distribute home and small office network attached storage (NAS) systems manufactured by Synology, QNAP and Thecus with WD Red hard drives. Read full story

Asbis picks up Fujitsu rights in Algeria

Emerging markets distributor Asbis has added Fujitsu distribution rights in Algeria. The agreement between Asbis and Fujitsu Technology Solutions will see the distributor sell a range of products for the vendor including desktop PCs, notebooks, tablets, peripherals, servers and storage products. Alion readies Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics range

Russian company Alion is an official licensee for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics merchandise programme. Alion, which also operates as a distributor in Russia, plans to introduce its official Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics collection of accessories at DISTREE EMEA 2013 in Monaco. With more and more distributors looking to create and develop own brand sales in the accessories space, Alion hopes to capture a significant chunk of sales with its Sochi 2014 products. Kaspersky signs Computerlinks in UK

Security solutions vendor Kaspersky has signed Computerlinks as a UK distributor. The vendor claims that the deal is part of a new distribution strategy in the UK to maximise routes-to-market and build Kaspersky’s credentials as a supplier of business-focused value-add solutions. Hilili joins Lenovo

Hardware vendor Lenovo has appointed Mohammed Hilili as general manager for the Gulf region with a focus on growing and developing the company’s Middle East operation. Hilili’s remit includes both the enterprise and consumer space as well as channel relations. Hilili has more than a decade of experience in IT, consumer electronics and general business across the region. Hilili previously worked at PC vendor Acer as country manager for Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Read full story
