Fujitsu Siemens adds Distributech in UAE

Hardware vendor Fujitsu Siemens has beefed up its UAE channel reach with the appointment of Distributech as an SMB-focused distribution partner. Fujitsu Siemens reckons that Distributech, which is a member of the Al Abbas Group, will boost sales in the UAE’s SMB market for PCs and servers. Read full story

OpenSpan rouses Raby for EMEA mission

Service-oriented architecture platform player OpenSpan has appointed Steve Raby as VP sales in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). OpenSpan generated 40% of its 2007 sales from outside North America and the company is keen to realise the significant growth opportunities that exist in overseas markets. Lenovo raids HP for new Middle East boss

PC giant Lenovo has named Khaled Kamel as its new general manager for the Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan region. Kamel joins Lenovo from close rival HP where he held the position of country manager with a strong focus on Saudi Arabia. Kamel’s CV also includes a stint as general manager of Heliopolis Computers. NEC Philips goes indirect in Denmark

Communications solutions vendor NEC Philips has turned to the channel in Denmark. NEC Philips has transferred its Danish direct sales and service activities to NW Gruppen, a provider of ICT solutions in Denmark. NEC Philips has also formed a dedicated channel team in Copenhagen to support the company’s indirect sales activities in the region. Read full story

Avaya adds Rocom as SMB distributor

IP telephony player Avaya has named Rocom as a UK distribution partner for the vendor’s portfolio of small and medium business (SMB) products. AT Communications Group (ATC), the AIM-quoted parent company of Rocom, expects the deal to deliver a minimum of US$14m in additional revenues during the first two years. Read full story

HP names SPS as Saudi wide receiver

HP has confirmed the appointment of Samir Photpgraphic Supplies (SPS) as its exclusive partner in Saudi Arabia for industrial printing solutions. SPS will offer super-wide format printing throughout the Kingdom and will manage all in-country sales of HP’s Scitex industrial solutions. Read full story

Merlion grabs Gingle rights

Russian distribution giant Merlion has struck an exclusive distribution deal with Gingle Technology to sell the vendor’s portfolio of RAM products. The products are now available to Merlion’s extensive dealer network in Russia. Under the terms of the deal, Merlion has been granted exclusive distribution rights across the entire Russian Federation and CIS countries. Read full story

Satyam named SAP MENA strategic partner

Software colossus SAP has confirmed Satyam as its first strategic partner for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The deal marks the extension of an existing alliance between the two companies. Satyam will manage more than 20% of SAP’s business in the MENA under the terms of the ‘strategic services’ agreement, which is a new region-specific partnership initiative rolled out by business software provider SAP.
