Axilspot enters MEA market

Axilspot, a global vendor in enterprise wireless networking, has announced the launch of its operations in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region. As part of its regional expansion plans, the company will appoint distributors and strengthen its channel network by recruiting partners across the region. Axilspot offers enterprise wireless connectivity solutions including wireless access points, bridges, base station, enterprise WLAN management platforms and PoE switches. Read full story

Dimension Data publishes IT predictions for 2017

Dimension Data, the global ICT solutions and services provider, has published its top IT predictions for 2017. The focus on digital is set to remain the key trend in the industry for the next 12 months. Dimension Data’s CTO, Ettienne Reinecke, claims digital is about building truly customer-centric business models on IT including the network, data centre, applications, and other infrastructure - which may be on-premise, or cloud-based. Reinecke said: “Today, there’s no such thing as a digital strategy – just strategy in a digital world. And while the digital age is creating a degree of uncertainty for some organisations, it’s also opening the doors to exciting possibilities and ushering in an era of infinite potential.” Read full story

Marvo to expand EMEA channels for gaming kit

China-based brand Marvo will look to expand its distribution reach in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region in 2017. With a comprehensive portfolio of gaming products and accessories, Marvo will attend DISTREE EMEA 2017 in February in Monaco to meet face-to-face with senior executives from the region’s leading consumer tech distributors. Fossil VP claims style will drive Middle East wearables growth

Preston Moxcey, VP at accessories manufacturer Fossil Group and GM of wearables brand Misfit, reckons that style will be the driving factor behind the growth of wearables in the Middle East market. Wearable devices may not have exploded onto the scene in the Middle East as projected by some industry quarters but, with time, they have wiggled their way into consumers’ lives. Fitness trackers and activity monitors, for example, are a common sight on wrists, and sporting a smartwatch doesn’t warrant quite as many inquisitive stares as it did some time ago. Read full story

Avnet to distribute Docker in EMEA

Distributor Avnet has signed an EMEA distribution agreement with Docker to offer partners in the UK, Ireland, Germany and France, commercial support and products from the Docker product range. As part of this agreement, Avnet will distribute Docker Datacentre, an integrated platform for developers and IT to collaborate, bringing improved security, policy and controls to the application lifecycle without sacrificing agility or application portability.
