Brightstar launches global accessories unit

Wireless device distribution giant Brightstar has whipped the covers off its new global accessories company called Brightstar Accessories. The new unit, which will be headquartered in Miami, will focus on the procurement, marketing, sales and distribution of innovative mobile device accessories to operator, retail and dealer customers worldwide. Brightstar has named former Jabra executive Morten Steen-Jorgensen as president and CEO of the new company. Read full story

Red Hat eyes emerging markets

Linux vendor Red Hat is beefing up its presence in some of EMEA’s emerging markets, opening an office in South Africa and outlining plans to build up its presence in Dubai. Louis Seyfert, formerly at storage giant EMC, has been selected to head up the new office in South Africa, which will handle the whole of Southern Africa. The planned Dubai office will look after Red Hat’s activities in North Africa. Read full story

eGain partners with PlanNet21

eGain has signed up PlanNet21 as its first certified partner in Ireland. eGain provides customer service and knowledge management software for in-house and on-demand deployment. PlanNet21 has offices in Dublin, Cork, Belfast and Galway. eGain reckons there is increasing customer demand for unified customer service solutions in the Irish market. Read full story

Overland appoints UK channel manager

Overland Storage has strengthened its team with the appointment of Dean Strutton as channel account manager for the UK. Strutton joins Overland from IT storage distributor CMS Peripherals. Avnet extends Colubris rights to Germany

Avnet Technology Solutions has extended its distribution deal with Colubris Networks to cover Germany. The move comes following the successful business relationship between Colubris and Avnet in the UK. Avnet will offer Colubris full portfolio of intelligent wireless LANs in the German market, strengthening the distributor’s wireless solutions offering. Read full story

Open Solutions signs EMEA partnership with HP

Open Solutions has struck an EMEA teaming alliance partnership with HP. The two companies reckon the deal will allow Open Solutions to push its integrated enabling technologies for financial services providers to more potential customers across EMEA. CADnection signs reseller agreement

CADnection has signed a reseller agreement with officetalk, a UK-based provider of Microsoft Office SharePoint services. CADnection develops a solution integrating AutoCAD and SharePoint applications. officetalk will work in a distribution capacity for CADnection. Read full story

Aptec selects Exactus solution

Middle East distribution giant Aptec will implement a new warehouse management system (WMS) from Exactus. The deal, which was announced by BSG - the regional partner and competency centre for Exactus - will see Aptec implement the Aware WMS to help manage its fulfillment and distribution operations. The solution will initially be installed at Aptec’s distribution centre in Jebel Ali Free Zone, UAE. Read full story

Autodesk’s new VAR in Qatar

Autodesk has named ProMedia as a new value-added reseller (VAR) partner in Qatar. The software vendor hopes that ProMedia will help it penetrate Qatar’s booming construction maket, which is set to be worth US$9billion by 2012, according to recent studies. ProMedia will work at marketing Autodesk solutions within the country’s booming construction sector. Read full story
