Garmin completes Formar deal

Satellite navigation device vendor Garmin has completed the purchase of Formar Electronics – the distributor of its products in Belgium and Luxembourg. The company will be renamed Garmin Belux and will retain its management, sales, marketing and support staff, consisting of 25 people. The unit will continue operating from its office and warehouse facility in Brussels. Read full story

Aladdin lands in Portugal

NASDAQ-quoted Aladdin Knowledge Systems has established a new office in Portugal as part of Aladdin Europe. Aladdin, an information security solutions provider specialising in authentication, software DRM and content security, has also purchased its long-term Portuguese distribution partner, Futurmatica. Pro Technology picks up Freecom award

German-Dutch storage specialist Freecom has named Dubai-based Pro Technology as its best performing distributor for high capacity mobile drives. The award was presented by Christian Dijkhof, international sales director at Freecom to Jamal Maraqa, managing director at Pro Technology in recognition of the distributor’s channel strategy and contribution to the growth of Freecom in the Middle East. Extreme adds Mayflex as MEA distributor

Extreme Networks has signed up Mayflex Middle East as a distribution partner. Under the terms of the agreement, Mayflex, which describes itself a a cabling, networking ans IP security solutions distributor, will push Extreme kit across the Middle East and Africa. Mayflex will assist Extreme in terms of channel development and boosting overall sales. Read full story

Redington picks up retail distribution accolade

Redington Gulf picked up the coveted Retail Distributor of the Year prize at the recent Middle East Retail Academy Awards, held in conjunction with Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) Middle East and Africa. During a live voting session, Redington picked up 37% of votes cast to take the prize. The four other nominees for the prize – as selected by an executive committee of 20 retailers prior to the live voting at the ceremony – were Delta, Emitac, ITE and Source IT. Read full story

Qurius confirms Bindar buy plan

Netherlands-based Microsoft partner Qurius has confirmed its intention to snap up Spanish outfit Bindar. The two companies have signed a letter of intent for the proposed deal. 80-strong Bindar is one of the main Microsoft Dynamics partners in Spain and posted 2007 sales of US$9.15m. Read full story

StorMagic signs Transtec as European reseller

StorMagic has signed up Transtec as a pan-European channel partner. The deal with storage reseller Transtec will extend StorMagic’s channel reach to end-users in the UK, France, Belgium, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria and Germany. Magirus picks up Netuitive rights

European VAD outfit Magirus has struck a distribution deal with Netuitive, a provider of self-learning performance management software. Under the terms of the pan-European agreement, Magirus will distribute Netuitive SI for VMware product in Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. Expand opens Russian office

Expand Networks has ramped up its operation in Russia, opening an in-country office and appointing Albert Katsir as sales director in Russia. Expand, which specialises in application acceleration over the wide are network (WAN), reckons that there are significant growth opportunities within the Russian market. BenQ promotes Joybook series in Saudi Arabia

BenQ has been busy promoting its latest Joybook notebooks in Saudi Arabia. The vendor unveiled its latest models to dealers at a series of channel events across the Kingdom covering Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar.
