Asbis gets Microsoft rights in Croatia

Emerging markets distribution powerhouse Asbis has added Microsoft to its vendor portfolio in Croatia. Under the terms of the agreement, Asbis Croatia has been appointed as a finished goods distributor focusing on Microsoft open licence, open value and full value package product (FPP) across all Microsoft product families. Tripp Lite adds Al Khalili in Oman

Power protection and connectivity kit vendor Tripp Lite has boosted its channel to market in Oman. The vendor has signed up Oman-based Al Khalili Technology Division as a VAD partner and hopes to boost its market share by 20% as a result. Tripp Lite reckons that demand for robust power supply solutions is booming in the Sultanate. Read full story

WebSpy signs Adaox for Middle East distribution

WebSpy has signed a Middle East distribution agreement with Adaox. Under the terms of the deal Adaox will promote and distribute the vendor’s range of internet, e-mail and network monitoring software across a number of markets in the region including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Yemen, Kuwait, Jordan, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq. Emirates Computers holds disaster recovery seminar

Solution provider Emirates Computers teamed up with distribution outfit Magirus for its latest seminar on disaster recovery in Dubai. Virtualisation vendor VMware also took part as the companies showcased the benefits of virtualisation solutions for disaster recovery and shared customer success stories with delegates. Sybase signs QBS distribution deal in UK

Enterprise software and services outfit Sybase has partnered with QBS Distribution (QBSD) in the UK. Under the terms of the agreement QBSD will distribute Sybase’s data modelling software tool PowerDesigner, which the companies claim holds a 35% global market share. The two companies reckon that the deal will further strengthen Sybase PowerDesigner’s position in the UK market. Read full story

Magirus shareholders mop up Agilysys stake

The major shareholder families in value-added distributor Magirus have clubbed together to acquire the 20.2% stake in the company that had been held by NASDAQ-quoted IT solutions provide Agilysys. The three families – Alghanim, Magirus and von Kuenheim – reckon that picking up Agilysys’ stake will allow Magirus to react more quickly to changing market conditions. Read full story

Sky secures Middle East PNY distribution rights

Sky Electronics has signed a Middle East distribution deal with PNY – an exclusive partner for Nvidia’s Quadro graphic cards in the region. Sky, which operates as a distributor and assembler, reckons that its latest agreement will help the company increase its visibility and expand its geographic footprint in the region. Read full story

Samsung teams with Itec for MFD In Southern Africa

Samsung has handed Itec exclusive distribution rights in Southern Africa for its SCX-6122 multi function device (MFD). Itec’s international footprint stretches from Southern Africa to the United Kingdom, with 47 regional offices in South Africa alone. The company represents a number of major vendors including Konica-Minolta, Lexmark and Samsung. Read full story

Ingram Micro EMEA names new CFO

Distribution giant Ingram Micro has appointed Paul Lilley as senior VP and chief financial officer (CFO) for its EMEA operation effective immediately. In his new role Lilley will report to Jay Forbes, executive VP and president of Ingram Micro EMEA. Lilley is a seasoned financial executive with more than 20 years experience. Read full story

Asbis reports third quarter figures

Emerging markets distributor Asbis reckons that its ‘solid foundation’ will allow it to ride out the current global financial crisis and emerge even stronger. The confident claim came as Asbis reported third quarter sales for 2008 up 15.1% year-on-year to US$427.3m. Despite the sales growth, third quarter net profits almost halved year-on-year to US$3.2m – an after-tax profit margin of just 0.7%. Read full story
