APAC ambitions for Blaupunkt brand

NASDAQ-quoted e-mail and data security company Mimecast has announced Middle East expansion plans. Mimecast has appointed two security-focused distributors to accelerate its growth and enhance customer experience in the region. BlackBerry branded handsets will live on in Indonesia thanks to newly formed joint venture PT BB Merah Putih. NASDAQ-quoted BlackBerry has announced a deal that will see BB Merah Putih source, distribute and promote BlackBerry-branded devices that use BlackBerry’s secure Android software and applications. JB Hi-Fi to acquire The Good Guys in Australia

Australian retailer JB Hi-Fi has confirmed a deal to acquire retail outfit The Good Guys for a cash sum of AU$870m (US$650m). The Good Guys is a leading home appliances and consumer electronics retailer in Australia with a network of 101 stores. The Good Guys sales hit AU$2.09 billion (US$1.56 billion) for the year ending June 30th 2016, with pre-tax profits coming in at AU$74.2m (US$55.4m). The deal is expected to close in late 2016 or early 2017. Read full story

Distribution giant Tech Data Europe has announced a European agreement with Silent Circle, a global leader in mobile security. Silent Circle offers private and encrypted mobile devices, software applications, and communication management services to corporations, governments and individuals worldwide. New Challenger subsidiary set-up in Malaysia

Singapore-based retailer Challenger Technologies has set up a new wholly-owned susbidiary in Malaysisa. The new subsidiary, which is called Hachi MY, has been set up by Challenger Technologies’ wholly-owned Challenge Ventures unit. Announing the incorporation of the new subsidiary, Challenger stated that its principal business would be trading, retail, distribution and online trading if IT and lifestyle products and services.
