Tech Data names new LAC general manager

Distribution giant Tech Data has appointed Deena LaMarque Piquion to VP and general manager, Latin America and Caribbean (LAC). In this role, Piquion will oversee the strategic direction and execution of all sales, marketing, and operations functions for the company’s LAC organisation, including its Miami-based Latin America export division. She will report to Jeff Bawol, senior VP, enterprise solutions at Tech Data. Read full story

Ingram Micro named Red Hat training reseller in UAE

Ingram Micro Training MEA, a provider of instructor-led technical training, is partnering with Red Hat as a Red Hat training reseller for the UAE. With this partnership, Ingram Micro is now authorised to resell Red Hat Training services, including open enrolment courses, on-site courses and Red Hat’s complete online delivery portfolio. Synnex expands Fuji Xerox partnership

Synnex has expanded its Australian distribution deal with Fuji Xerox Printers and will now stock the brand’s entire range of products. Along with Fuji Xerox Printers’ retail solutions, Synnex will also now distribute the company’s entire product range, enabling Fuji Xerox Printers to expand its reach across the IT and systems integrator markets, opening up new channels. Majid Al Futtaim bags Geant

Majid Al Futtaim, a leading shopping mall, communities, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, recently acquired Retail Arabia, the franchise owner of 26 Geant stores across the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait as well as 4 Gulfmart supermarkets in Bahrain. The deal has been agreed between Majid Al Futtaim and Retail Arabia’s parent company BMA International. As part of the Majid Al Futtaim retail offering, Carrefour currently operates over 160 stores in 15 markets across the MENA region. Read full story

Panasonic signs pan-EMEA deal with Nuvias

Panasonic Business has appointed Nuvias as its first pan-EMEA distributor for its range of business IP phone handsets. The initial roll-out will focus on established markets for Nuvias, including the UK, Benelux, Germany and France, along with Southern Europe and the Nordics. Nuvias will act as a high value distributor for the full range of Panasonic IP handsets. This comprises desktop phones, and both single cell and multi-cell DECT solutions, for use within cloud-based UC environments, including BroadSoft. Read full story

ASSMANN confirmed for DISTREE APAC

ASSMANN Group has confirmed that it will exhibit at DISTREE Asia-Pacific (APAC) 2017, which takes place in Singapore from November 8-10th. Amazon completes Souq.com acquisition

E-commerce giant Amazon has confirmed the official completion of the acquisition of Souq.com. As the first step of integration, customers can now log on to Souq.com using their Amazon credentials. Souq.com claims that by becoming part of Amazon it can bring even more products and services to customers in the region and further expand ‘Fulfilled by Souq’ to empower sellers. "It is an exhilarating time for the e-commerce industry in the region,” said Souq.com CEO and co-founder Ronaldo Mouchawar. Read full story

Kingston appoints Brightstar in India

Memory products vendor Kingston Technology has appointed Brightstar Telecommunication as a national distributor for its flash business in India. Kingston hopes that the agreement will allow it to reinforce its current footprint in India and expand into new market segments.
