Open Solutions signs EMEA partnership with HP
Open Solutions has struck an EMEA teaming alliance partnership with HP. The two companies reckon the deal will allow Open Solutions to push its integrated enabling technologies for financial services providers to more potential customers across EMEA. Under the terms of the agreement all Open Solutions products and services will be sold through HP’s direct sales team and reseller network.

CADnection has signed a reseller agreement with officetalk, a UK-based provider of Microsoft Office SharePoint services. CADnection develops a solution integrating AutoCAD and SharePoint applications. officetalk will work in a distribution capacity for CADnection.

Autodesk has named ProMedia as a new value-added reseller (VAR) partner in Qatar. The software vendor hopes that ProMedia will help it penetrate Qatar’s booming construction maket, which is set to be worth US$9billion by 2012, according to recent studies. ProMedia will work at marketing Autodesk solutions within the country’s booming construction sector.

Seagate opens Riyadh collection point
Hard drive giant Seagate has officially opened a new collection point in Riyadh. The new facility will service Seagate’s authorised distributors, resellers and partners in Saudi Arabia under the company’s warranty programme. The collection point will process return material authorisation (RMA) disc drives at one central location, speeding up and simplifying the return procedures for Seagate disc drives.

South River signs WBC for France
South River Technologies has signed up WBC as a distributor to develop the channel to market for a French version of the vendor’s WebDrive product. WBC will exclusively distribute WebDrive – a universal file access client that South River claims enables users to securely access, edit and manage documents on remote servers through the convenience of a drive letter.

Genius grabs Retail Academy Award
Genius Computer Technology picked up the Retail Vendor of the Year Award for Accessories at the inaugural Middle East Retail Academy Awards held in conjunction with Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) Middle East and Africa (MEA). More than 100 senior retail executives took part in a live electronic voting process during the awards ceremony to determine the winner in each category.

Security software outfit McAfee has named Trevor Coetzee as channel manager for Africa. Coetzee joins McAfee from a role in the security channel space where he spent six years in a number of commercial roles. McAfee reckons that Coetzee’s background will prove valuable in his new role.

Track Distribution Middle East (TDME) – the new incarnation of global giant Tech Data’s discarded Middle East enterprise and components business – has finalised a distribution deal for Qimonda’s Aeneon memory products covering the UAE, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Track is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Middle East distribution powerhouse Aptec Holdings.
