Stonesoft extends Magirus rights

Stonesoft has expanded Magirus’ distribution rights for StoneGate network security solutions, extending the VAD’s territorial coverage to include Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Magirus already held StoneGate rights for Italy and Belgium. Stonesoft recently unveiled its first comprehensive StoneGate security solution for virtual VMware environments and became a member of the VMware technology alliance programme. Read full story

Infor names new EMEA channel boss

Business software vendor Infor has promoted Jean Philippe Pommel to VP EMEA channels and alliances. In his new role, Pommel will assume revenue and management responsibility for Infor’s channel and alliances programme in EMEA. Pommel, previously global account manager at Infor, will report into Keith Deane, the vendor’s EMEA president. Read full story

Mio makes Middle East Moov with IMS

GPS device vendor Mio Technology’s co-operation agreement with UAE-based International Marketing Services (IMS) is bringing the latest kit to the Middle East. Under the terms of the deal, IMS distributes Mio’s GPS and PDA products across the entire GCC region, including the vendor’s latest Moov range of portable GPS products. Read full story

Khalil lands at Lenovo Middle East

Lenovo has boosted its Middle East channel credentials with the appointment of Ahmed Khalil as regional manager for transactional business. Khalil will focus on channel development, driving Lenovo’s growth and expansion in the SMB and consumer market. Khalil’s CV includes a long stint as boss of Toshiba’s Middle East PC operation, where he propelled the vendor’s notebook range into a market leading position acrosss the region. Read full story

nuBridges spices up channel with Chilli IT

E-business software and services outfit nuBridges has signed up UK-based Chilli IT as a reseller through its Ally Partner programme. Chilli IT, which is an IBM System I expert, will now offer nuBridges software solutions to help its enterprise customers protect sensitive and confidential data stored on System I servers in databases, files and applications. Trinity targets Middle East retail channel

IT hardware distributor Trinity Electronics hopes to boost its sales through the Middle East retail channel. The distributor, which is authorised by a number of vendors including ASRock, Asus, BenQ, Foxconn, Samsung and Seagate, recently established an office and warehouse facility in Jebel Ali free zone to serve as a regional hub. Trinity is attending the upcoming Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) event in Fujairah, UAE, to strengthen the company’s relationships with major retailers from across the Middle East. Read full story

FileWave partners with Pro Technology

Software management tools provide FileWave has appointed Pro Technology as its exclusive distribution partner in the Middle East. Under the terms of the agreement, Pro technology will resell the vendor’s Asset Trustee and FileWave software. FileWave offers tools for both Windows and Mac OS systems and will look to Pro Technology to open up and develop new business opportunities in the region. Read full story

The Rock(y) horror show

UK-based performance gaming notebook vendor Rock has gone under. The company, which had annual sales of approximately US$10m, called in the administrators after facing cashflow difficulties. The company’s demise is linked to the actions of ex-employee, Paul Bicknell, currently serving a three-year prison sentence after admitting nine charges of theft from Rock totalling US$440,000. Bicknell also admitted burgling Rock premises one month after resigning from the company. Read full story

Cyberoam reckons that e92plus’ strong partner network and experience of the UK security market will enhance both the availability and the reach of Cyberoam UTM appliances in the UK market.
