Lorge lands SAP gold status

South African technology solutions provider Lorge has picked up gold partner status for SAP Business One. The new partner status was confirmed at the recent SAP PartnerEdge Awards ceremony for 2007 where Lorge was also voted a top three partner in the reseller of the year and achievement of excellence categories. McAfee names Coetzee as Africa channel manager

Security software outfit McAfee has named Trevor Coetzee as channel manager for Africa. Coetzee joins McAfee from a role in the security channel space where he spent six years in a number of commercial roles. McAfee reckons that Coetzee’s background will prove valuable in his new role. 3Com names Ali as Egypt boss

Networking vendor has appointed a new country manager in Egypt. Yasser Ali has taken on the Cairo-based role with immediate effect and will assume responsibility for delivering high quality service to 3Com’s partners and customers in Egypt. Ali will also attemot to develop strategies to support partners and increase awareness of 3Com’s secure converged networking solutions portfolio. Read full story

TDME finalises Qimonda deal

Track Distribution Middle East (TDME) – the new incarnation of global giant Tech Data’s discarded Middle East enterprise and components business – has finalised a distribution deal for Qimonda’s Aeneon memory products covering the UAE, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Track is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Middle East distribution powerhouse Aptec Holdings. Read full story

Emirates Computers picks up Citrix prize

Citrix has named UAE-based IT solutions provider Emirates Computers as its Middle East enterprise partner of the year. The award recognised Emirates Computers’ role in promoting Citrix solutions and also its involvement in the largest Citrix deployment in the region. The award was presented at the Citrix partner exchange summit held in Dubai. Read full story

QlikView makes Middle East move

Business intelligence vendor QlikView has expanded its Middle East presence, striking a reseller partnership with ICS ME. Tumbleweed, which specialises in managed file transfer and e-mail security solutions, reckons that its latest channel recruit will help it tap into Russia’s technology boom. Almasa appoints new components boss

John David has rejoined Middle East distribution giant Almasa as general manager of the company’s components business. David was formerly Almasa product and territory manager during his previous stint at Almasa. David has a wealth of eexperience in the hard disk drive (HDD) channel. Almasa hopes that its latest recruit will help to cement the company’s reputation as a leading distributor of IT hardware and networking kit in the Middle East and North Africa. Read full story

Sadoun becomes EMEA enterprise boss at Arrow

Laurent Sadoun has been named as the president of Arrow Electronics enterprise computing solutions (ECS) business in EMEA, including Logix, which Arrow formally acquired on Jun 2nd. Sadoun – previously CEO and chairman at Logix - will report directly in to Arrow ECS president Andrew Bryant. Arrow received competition clearance from the European Competition Commission for its proposed acquisition of Logix in May. Read full story
