Middle East distributor Mindware has teamed up with thin computing vendor Wyse to launch the Earthsmart computing initiative in the Middle East. The campaign aims to build awareness on energy consumption and electronic waste issues. Mindware and Wyse hope that the campaign will boost demand for thin computing as companies push towards environmentally friendly business practices.

Middle East distribution giant Aptec has been on the hunt for channel partners to join the VMware advantage partner programme. The company has hosted a series of seminars across the region covering the UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. The Kuwait seminar also included a briefing on McAfee technology while both NetApp and Symantec took part in the event that took place in Riyadh.

BenQ sales soar in Saudi Arabia
Hardware vendor BenQ witnessed a 30% increase in sales in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the first half of 2008. Citing customer demand for feature-packed high-end kit, BenQ has declared that Saudi Arabia now accounts for almost one fifth of its total sales in the Middle East and North Africa region.

Open Text teams up with Logica
Open Text has formed a partnership with European IT and business services company Logica. Under the terms of the deal, Logica and enterprise content management (ECM) vendor Open Text will collaborate on the implementation of joint market offerings, based on Open Text’s ECM software, in conjunction with a range of consulting, systems integration, application management and managed operation services from Logica.
