Zycko lands in Spain

Value-added distributor Zycko has continued its rapid European expansion, announcing the launch of its newest office in Spain. Zycko, which focuses on pushing convergent IT solutions, has opened its latest office in Las Rozas outside Madrid. The new facility will incorporate configuration, testing and a repair facility. Früchtenicht lands sales role at Actebis Peacock

Kai Kadri Früchtenicht has been named senior sales director at German distribution outfit Actebis Peacock and will start at the beginning of December 2008. Früchtenicht, 43, succeeds Torsten Seiferth, who is leaving the Actebis Group after thirteen years. Früchtenicht has more than 15 years of sales experience in IT and media distribution and retail. Ali Bin Ali makes Dell services grade

Qatari systems integrator Ali Bin Ali Technology Solutions (ABATS) has made the grade as a Dell authroised service provider (DASP). The company had only recently been certified as a Dell solutions partner. In order to achieve the DASP Certification ABATS passed a stringent requirement test that Dell sets as the benchmark for its partners. One of the key elements in ABATS market readiness was its fully functional Dell authorised service centre. Read full story

Packard Bell makes Middle East move

Packard Bell – the PC brand now owned by hardware giant Acer – has set its sights on the Middle East market. Packard Bell has now entered the market with a dedicated regional sales and marketing team and a line-up of midrange and high-end notebooks. The launch of the Packard Bell brand forms part of Acer’s aim to snare even more of the consumer notebook market. Read full story

LG lands Class deal in Lebanon

LG Electronics has appointed Class as a retail partner for its GSM products in Lebanon. The move forms part of an ongoing effort by LG’s mobile device unit to enhance the level of service available to customers in Lebanon. LG reckons that the success of its mobile device business depends heavily on getting the right distributors and retailers on board. Read full story

Jensen bags EMEA sales role at Iomega

Iomega has named Jan Jensen as VP sales in EMEA. In his new role Jensen will lead Imoega’s business efforts in Europe and new business development across EMEA to spearhead the vendor’s geographic expansion. Cisco extends Redington rights

Networking giant Cisco has given Redington the green light for further expansion of a distribution deal in Africa. Redington Gulf, which first entered West Africa with Cisco two years ago, will now also have a presence in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Burundi, and Rwanda in East Africa. Stonesoft adds more markets for Magirus

Stonesoft has extended its distribution agreement with Magirus to cover the whole of Europe. The deal, which initially covered Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, has now been enlarged to include the UK, Denmark, Sweden, France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands and the Middle East.
