FVC strikes Masergy deal

E-mail management services provider Mimecast has launched in the Middle East. The UK-based software as a service (SaaS) outfit is setting up a free zone office in Dubai and will participate in trade show GITEX as the company eyes business opportunities and potential channel partnerships across the wider Middle East. Comztek eyes East African expansion

South Africa based distributor Comztek plans to expand its operations in East Africa, building on its recent office opening in Nairobi, Kenya. Despite the volatility of many global financial markets, Comztek has confirmed that its securitisation agreement has been renewed for a further three years, increasing the amount of funding available to the distributor from US$7.9m to US$11.6m. Samsung takes Middle East notebook plunge

Samsung Electronics has finally decided to start selling its notebooks in the Middle East market. The company has considered the pros and cons of launching notebooks in the region for several years, but has now taken the plunge. Investcorp injects US$98m into Redington Gulf

Asset management firm Investcorp has agreed a US$98m investment in Middle East and Africa distribution giant Redington Gulf. The deal will make Investcorp a minority shareholder in Redington Gulf with a 36% stake, according to Redington India - the parent company of Redington Gulf. The deal values Redington Gulf at US$272m. Read full story

Sitronics appoints VP for strategy

Russian IT and telecoms giant Sitronics has appointed Oksana Kovalevskaya as its new VP for strategy. Sitronics already has a strong presence in Russia and the CIS and is also now growing its presence in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
