Dell EMC appoints Mitsumi as African distributor

Mitsumi Distribution has been appointed by Dell EMC Middle East as an authorised distributor for the Africa region. Mitsumi claims that the move demonstrates Dell EMC’s confidence in the distributor to grow the brand across the region. Arrow gets strategic with Symantec

Arrow Electronics has been named a multinational strategic distribution partner of Symantec in the EMEA region. Following the acquisition of Blue Coat by Symantec in 2016, Arrow has renewed its distribution contract with Symantec. Prior to the acquisition, Arrow had distributed the products and solutions of both companies in numerous countries. Read full story

Nuvias gets GitHub rights for EMEA

GitHub, the software development platform, has signed its first pan-EMEA distribution agreement with VAD Nuvias. The new partnership will further expand GitHub’s enterprise customer base across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and represents a commitment by Nuvias to accelerate the growth of its DevOps business. Huawei signs distribution deal with Aurora

Huawei has struck a Nordic distribution deal with Aurora Group, a subsidiary of DistIT AB. The deal covers Huawei’s range of accessories. Xiaozhong Zhao, director of consumer business group (CBG) Nordic EU at Huawei, said: “We are very pleased to announce our corporation with Aurora Group, one of the largest and most recognised distributors of electronics across the Nordics." Rashi Peripherals updates on Apple availability

Indian distributor Rashi Peripherals, has announced it will start selling the new generation iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus later this month. Customers will be able to pre-order iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus beginning Friday, September 22nd, and both will be available in stores starting on Friday, September 29th. Read full story

Huawei appoints retailer director in UAE

Huawei consumer business group (CBG) has appointed Rishi Kishor Gupta as retailer director for the UAE. Based in Dubai, Gupta will spearhead Huawei’s retail channels in the UAE and strengthen retail partnerships, aiming to provide customers easy access to Huawei’s cutting-edge technologies. DISTREE APAC survey shows Malaysia leads regional Consumer Tech Channel Business Confidence Index

DISTREE Asia Pacific (APAC) has announced preliminary results from its 2017 APAC Consumer Tech Channel Survey. The survey showed that consumer tech distributors and retailers in Malaysia had the highest confidence levels in the region in terms of business prospects. Sri Lanka recorded the second highest confidence level, followed by Bangladesh in third, with India and Vietnam in fourth and fifth respectively. Read full story

Courts reports first quarter results

Technology, electronics and furniture retailer Courts Asia has announced net profits of US$4.49m on sales of US$137.2m for the first quarter ending 30th June 2017. Courts’ profitability in Singapore remains strong and the company has opened two new stores in East Malaysia. Courts is working towards a minimum of five new stores each in Malaysia and Indonesia moving forwards. Revenues for the first quarter declined 4.5% year-on-year with profits falling 31%.
