Last week’s ‘Middle East Retail Academy (MERA): 2012 Awards’ held in conjunction with DISTREE Middle East included a series of Retailer of the Year awards covering ten countries across the region. Eight different ICT and consumer electronics (CE) retailers received awards – based on live electronic voting by vendors - reflecting the continued diversity that exists in the regional channel, with Carrefour and Lulu the only companies to emerge victorious in more than one country. MERA launches In-Store Experience Award
The Middle East Retail Academy (MERA) has launched a new award for ICT and consumer electronics (CE) retailers operating in the Middle East. The brand new In-Store Experience of the Year Award will make its debut at the ‘MERA: 2012 Awards’ taking place in conjunction with DISTREE Middle East on May 16th in Fujairah, UAE. Retailers are invited to send in submissions for the award with the overall winner selected by a VIP Jury in the run-up to the awards ceremony. (lire la suite)

Empa strikes Eset deal
Distributor Empa Middle East has signed a strategic agreement with security software outfit Eset. Empa will now be authorised to distributor Eset’s line of security solutions across all GCC countries – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. (lire la suite)

Jarir impresses in MERA Twitter Tracker
Saudi Arabian ICT and consumer electronics (CE) retail giant Jarir Bookstore has impressed in the latest set of figures published by the Middle East Retail Academy (MERA) Twitter Tracker. During the last four months, Jarir Bookstore has maintained its top position in terms of number of followers, and also achieved the fastest growth rate. Jarir almost quadrupled its number of Twitter followers in the last four months to reach a total of 22,079. (lire la suite)

MERA 2012 – RETAILER MARKETING NOMINATIONS
The Middle East Retail Academy (MERA) is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Retailer Marketing Initiative of the Year Award. Entries for this award, which is open to all ICT and consumer electronics (CE) retailers operating in the Middle East, will be judged by a VIP Jury on a number of criteria including innovation, creativity, sales performance, impact on margin, footfall created and overall market impact.
