HP Middle East names channel champs

by Stuart Wilson, Tuesday 4 November 2008

HP Middle East named its top annual partners at its eighth annual awards evening, which took place recently in Dubai. More than 400 representatives from partners across the region attended the event. HP’s top brass were also out in force at the event led by Todd Bradley, VP for HP personal systems group (PSG) worldwide.

Bradley was joined by fellow HP executives Eric Cador, senior VP for PSG in EMEA; Susanne Heis, VP for HP imaging and printing group (IPG) Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa (MEMA), and Jos Brenkel, VP HP PSG MEMA.

Bernhard Isemann, SPO Manager at HP Middle East, said: “HP has an excellent partner network across the Middle East of which we are extremely proud of. The past twelve months has proved extremely successful for HP and we take the annual channel awards to thank our partners for their loyalty, dedication and investment within HP.”

In the distribution awards, Jumbo Electronics picked up the prize for the gulf and UAE region with Advanced Integrated Media bagging the trophy for its performance in Saudi Arabia. MAS was named best distributor in Egypt and Levant.

The best retailer awards went to Al Ghanim Kuwait in the Gulf and UAE region; Jarir Bookstore in Saudi Arabia and Al Hegaz in Egypt and Levant. Jumbo picked up the best outlet prize for its retail space at Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. Extra picked up an award for best outlet in Saudi Arabia. The best outlet award for Egypt and Levant went to Carrefour Egypt.

The three awards for volume partners went to CADD Emirates, Raid Raidan Trading and Global Brands while the value accolades wnet to Manni Trading, Nahil Computers and Scientific & Medical Supplies.

Best ProCurve Partner awards went to Redington, Imtac and Telematics and prizes for best territory coverage were picked up by both Redington and Emitac. The award for best HP partner salesperson went to EEMC Kuwait’s Abdul Raheem Al Muzaini.

HP recently introduced two models for its preferred partner programme: preferred partner and gold preferred partner. Preferred partners are typically resellers that sell based on volume, usually addressing volume need but nonetheless strategic market segments, that do not specialise themselves in specific areas, according to HP. In contrast, the vendor claims that gold preferred partners are focused on solutions and operations with a requirement for high skill investments.

The awards were dished out by HP Middle East executives including John Hoonhout, managing director and general manager for TSG; Anil Kumar, general manager for PSG; Amr Hassan, general manager for IPG and Bernhard Isemann, who hosted the evening.
