DNS drives channel development in Azerbaijan

DNS Computers continues to drive the development of a structured in-country channel in Azerbaijan. DNS, which operates as a distributor and retailer, is participating at DISTREE EMEA 2013, ready to engage with both existing and potential vendor partners and increase understanding of the Azerbaijani channel potential.

DNS Computers operates an e-tail site and has 10 retail outlets in Baku and additional stores in other major population centres across Azerbaijan. The company has also introduced financing schemes in conjunction with major banks, allowing consumers to purchase big ticket items and spread the cost of payment.

Hasan Hasanov, division director at DNS, said: “We are participating in DISTREE EMEA and expect to sign new contracts as a result. We are very interested in meeting manufacturers supplying mobile accessories and new technologies.”

The Azerbaijani market continues to expand with Hasanov claiming that it grew by between 5% and 6% in 2012 with further acceleration predicted for 2013.

“One of the major issues facing the Azerbaijan market at present is the development of channel policies by major PC vendors and they look to forge direct relationships with retailers and wholesalers,” explained Hasanov.

Consumers in Azerbaijan continue to show strong interest in lifestyle products with increased demand for tablet PCs. DNS Computers has a clear plan of action for 2013 and plans to build stronger relationships with its supplier and expand its consumer product portfolio.

“We are implementing a key performance indicator (KPI) management system and looking to build a balanced portfolio that also includes some exclusive products,” concluded Hasanov.
