Hardware vendor Acer has beefed up its channel in Egypt, signing Interact as an executive partner to take advantage of new opportunities in the fast-growing market. The IT market in Egypt is expected to be worth US$1.3 billion per annum by 2012, according to research by BMI.
“Acer is a top brand in Egypt,” said Moheb Samir, managing director at Interact. “As an executive partner, we are looking to significantly increase Acer’s reach in Egypt’s vibrant corporate market.”
“Interact partners with global brands to bring innovative and state-of-the-art products and technology to Egyptian businesses wanting to compete in the global arena,” added Samir.
Established in 1996, Interact bills itself as a leading Egyptian IT company offering cutting edge communication technology across a wide applications spectrum, in both system integration and communication.
Acer’s aggressive channel and marketing strategy is designed to encourage partners to help the PC vendor capture a significant portion of Egypt’s IT industry. With BMI projecting average annual growth in IT spending at the rate of 13% through 2012 - fuelled by strong spending in government, telecoms, and financial sectors - Egypt’s IT market is expected to continue to grow. With initiatives from the Egyptian government designed to further increase computer penetration in the country, Egypt remains a key growth market for Acer
“At the rate at which the Egyptian IT market is growing, Acer relies on dynamic partners who will make our products more widely available,” said Shashank Sharma, country manager for Saudi Arabia and Egypt at Acer.
