Lenovo teams with Ziptech for new Chennai store

by Stuart Wilson, Wednesday 17 October 2012

PC giant Lenovo has launched a new store in Chennai, India, as the vendor looks to cement its reputation as the country’s leading brand. Lenovo is committed to building a strong retail infrastructure across India as it looks to drive ‘hypergrowth’ in the Indian PC market.

Lenovo currently has a footprint of four exclusive stores in Chennai. Lenovo has partnered with Ziptech Infosolutions – the retail arm of distributor Inspan Infotech - for the new store. Ziptech has future plans to expand its retail operation into Chennai’s leading malls and other commercial areas. The new Lenovo exclusive store (LES) will showcase the vendor’s entire consumer range of notebooks, netbooks, desktops, all-in-ones and accessories.

Sudhir S, managing director of Ziptech, said: "Lenovo is number one and has great equity in the Indian PC market. We are proud to partner them to address the burgeoning PC requirements of consumers in Chennai. Lenovo stores are unique in their design, experience and consultative approach, and we believe that this unique selling point sets them apart from the other players in the market."

Ashok Nair, director South at Lenovo India, said: "Chennai is one of the most important markets for Lenovo in this region, thanks to the huge market potential of a progressive populace. We foresee a huge opportunity here with speed, entertainment, convenience and mobility in PCs as main catalysts. Our latest range performance machines are riding on this wave and our strong retail success will make the latest computing extremely accessible to our customers across Chennai."

The launch of the new store is in line with Lenovo’s retail strategy to ‘get closer’ to its customers in high potential cities like Chennai with its range of consumer products under the IdeaPad and IdeaCentre brands.
