Maxdata insolvency proceedings begin

by Stuart Wilson, Wednesday 9 July 2008

Insolvency proceedings have commenced for European hardware player Maxdata. The company filed for insolvency at the end of June 2008 in Essen, Germany. The local court has appointed Dr. Winfrid Andres as preliminary insolvency administrator and one of his first acts has been to transfer all UK sales and services operations to Maxdata’s Benelux subsidiary.

Maxdata Benelux is taking over sales of products in the UK with immediate effect and the Maxdata Benelux sales team will handle customers in the UK.

A statement posted on Maxdata UK’s website read: “After first meetings with the management, the preliminary insolvency administrator was able to gain an insight into the situation of the company. The preliminary insolvency administrator has formed the opinion that considerable restructuring measures are necessary with all subsidiaries in order to achieve the consolidation of the corporate group.”

The statement concluded with a message to UK customers: “We kindly ask you to support us in our endeavour to restructure the corporate group. This can only be realised when you continue to patronise the company and place further orders with Maxdata Benelux.”
