Esquire adds OCZ rights

South African distributor Esquire Technologies has added OCZ to its vendor portfolio. Esquire will distribute OCZ’s solid state drives (SSDs) to its reseller base across South Africa. OCZ’s products will also be made available to channel partners signed up for Esquire’s virtual reseller network (VRN).
Asgar Mahomed, managing director at Esquire, said: “We are excited to partner with OCZ Technology as the SSD market is on a steep growth path, especially over the last few months since the flooding in Thailand, which saw traditional hard disk drive prices skyrocketing.”
“This has given a window of opportunity for clients to start looking at SSD drives - especially in the VAR, system builder, SMB, enterprise and gaming markets,” he added. "OCZ has a powerful and focused offering and we are pleased to take this opportunity to bring these products to our reseller base in South Africa."
The addition of OCZ is also a boost for Esquire’s fast-growing gaming division, which supplies products from vendors such as Asus, Razer and Sapphire among others. Since its launch in March 2011, Esquire’s gaming division has grown to account for 10% of the distributor’s sales.
“The gaming industry is booming and we see this being reflected in the rapid growth of our gaming division – a division we will be focusing on quite aggressively in the coming months,” said Mahomed.
Esquire was named African Distributor of the Year at last month’s ’EMEA Channel Academy: 2012 Awards’, which were held in conjunction with leading regional channel event DISTREE EMEA. Esquire was selected by a live electronic vote carried out by senior vendor executives with regional channel roles. Esquire’s VRN solution was also named as a finalist in the Distributor Initiative of the Year Award.
