Avaya appoints new worldwide channel boss

by Stuart Wilson, Tuesday 17 June 2008

Business communications outfit Avaya has recruited Jeremy Butt to head up its worldwide channels operation. In his new role, Butt will lead the company’s channel sales organisation, developing strategies and programmes for more than 3,400 of the vendor’s systems integrator, service provider, distributor, VAR and solution provider channel around the world.

“As Avaya brings tighter focus to its core businesses of unified communications and contact centre, it will be critical for us to scale our global channel programmes to meet our growth objectives. Jeremy is a world-class channel leader with the global expertise to execute our channel centric go-to-market,” said Todd Abbott, senior VP global sales at Avaya. “With his leadership, Avaya is now well-positioned to expand our partnerships with the channel worldwide.”

Butt brings a wealth of channel experience to his new role at Avaya. He recently served as VP of worldwide channels for Motorola’s enterprise mobility business. He has also held executive positions with WatchGuard and Cisco.

Avaya has also named Bob Lyons as the general manager and VP of Avaya’s customer service applications division. Lyons joins Avaya from Convergys where he first served as CIO and then increased his responsibilities to oversee operations for the company.
