Packed day one agenda at DISTREE Latin America

by Stuart Wilson, Tuesday 13 September 2011

The inaugural DISTREE Latin America offers a packed first day agenda for delegates, featuring a compelling combination of presentations, one-on-one meetings and a new technology showcase session. With hundreds of vendor and channel executives from across Latin America in attendance, the event offers a powerful networking opportunity for all attendees looking to identify new business opportunities in the region.

The first formal presentation session begins in the main auditorium at 11:00 with senior executives from Abradisti, the Brazilian distributor association, offering deep insight and guidance into the Brazilian channel. Using their wealth of channel experience, this is a valuable session for vendors keen to develop their understanding of the market conditions and what is required for a successful ‘go-to-market’ model in Brazil.

After lunch, DISTREE Latin America delegates embark on their first round of pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings. These meetings are an opportunity for vendors and channel partners alike to evaluate their potential for building business relationships together in Latin America. More than 1,000 meetings have been arranged in advance with vendors, distributors and retailers assessing company profiles to select the companies most relevant to their business requirements.

The evening conference programme begins at 18:15 with the Sightline Group’s Fred Brown taking to the stage for ‘Fresh: A First Look at New Technology’. This session represents a powerful opportunity for a limited number of vendors to present their products to Latin America’s most powerful and influential channel audience. The ‘Fresh’ presentations represent a fast moving production showcasing new technology from a number of vendors.

Next on stage is Dr. Rudi Aunkofer, Global Research Director IT at GfK Retail & Technology, to deliver a keynote speech entitled ‘New Opportunities for the Technology Industry, Distribution and Retailing’. Global high-tech markets are facing fundamental changes due to new products like tablets, according to GfK. This, together with hype from social media and an increase in e-tailing is leading to dramatic changes within the distribution and retail scene and increased market transparency. This presentation will illustrate these trends on both a global and regional level and provide insights into reasons and consequences.

Rounding off the presentations for day one, event moderator Ryan Mackey will introduce three vendors to the stage as part of the Live@DISTREE session. This fast-paced programme will see event sponsors Kaspersky, Port and G Data detail their Latin American channel strategy and the portfolio of products they bring to market.
