WD excited by Latin American potential

Storage giant Western Digital (WD) will showcase the breadth and depth of its solutions portfolio to retailers and distributors from across the region at DISTREE Latin America this week. WD views Latin America as one of the world’s most exciting regions representing a huge growth opportunity for the vendor.
Tony Tate, VP worldwide sales for branded products at WD, said: “Our primary objective [at the event] is to showcase our brand and technology portfolio to the Latin America retail and distribution community. We wish to meet with existing and potential retail partners in the region to discuss successful partnerships and growth plans for the future.”
“We are also eager to meet with our existing and potential distribution partners in the region with an emphasis on penetrating new markets and expanding our reach throughout the region,” he added.
WD identifies Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Chile as major markets where the vendor can strengthen and grow its presence while diversifying the range of products that it sells through in-country channels.
“For WD, the channel is of upmost importance and we have, and we continue to, partner with them directly, educating them on our new products and features in order to provide them with the necessary WD tools to make their business profitable,” Tate continued.
“WD offers a diverse assortment of products, technology and applications making WD a the best proposition for distributors and retailers,” explained Tate. “WD has a clear long-term commitment and vision of building the brand in the Latin American community and we focus on driving solutions that meet specific customer needs, while leveraging our strong worldwide retail position in this high growth market.”
WD has already demonstrated its long-term commitment to Latin America, establishing a manufacturing presence in Manaus, Brazil, to more effectively meet customer demand in the market and expand WD’s global supply chain infrastructure.
“Our business is growing exponentially [in Latin America] as is the market,” explained Tate. “The data storage industry in general is spurred increasingly by the explosion of data and video-rich applications that create huge amounts of digital content.”
“WD is committed to providing our channel partners with the right tools, training, and support to successfully recommend and sell WD’s full line of storage solutions. Our partner programme, SelectWD, is designed to support every level of your business - from special incentive programmes to priority technical support,” added Tate.
“Our goal is to build a partnership that offers the advantages of working directly with a manufacturer while maintaining established purchasing and fulfillment relationships with distribution partners,” he concluded.
WD TV Live Plus, a TV media player system, will be on display at DISTREE Latin America. The vendor recently launched the product in Brazil enabling consumers to share content stored on hard drives throughout the home.
