DISTREE APAC survey shows Malaysia leads regional Consumer Tech Channel Business Confidence Index

DISTREE Asia Pacific (APAC) has announced preliminary results from its 2017 APAC Consumer Tech Channel Survey.

The survey showed that consumer tech distributors and retailers in Malaysia had the highest confidence levels in the region in terms of business prospects.

Sri Lanka recorded the second highest confidence level, followed by Bangladesh in third, with India and Vietnam in fourth and fifth respectively.

This year’s survey also revealed that 84% of distributors and retailers expected to increase the number of brands in their portfolio in the next six months, with only 16% expecting a decline. For distributors only, 89% of respondents expected to sign new vendors in the next six months.

Distributors and retailers were asked how confident they were about their business prospects for consumer technology sales during the next six months on a scale of 1 to 10 (where 1 is extremely worried and 10 is extremely confident).

The top markets in the Consumer Tech Channel Business Confidence Index based on average score were as follows:

7.44 - Malaysia

7.27 - Sri Lanka

7.00 - Bangladesh

7.00 - India

7.00 - Vietnam

6.80 - Singapore

6.75 - China & Hong Kong

6.67 - Pakistan

6.00 - Indonesia

4.40 - Australia & New Zealand

The fifth annual DISTREE APAC will take place at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel in Singapore on 8th to 10th November 2017. The regional channel event gives consumer technology vendors and brand owners the opportunity to hold pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with APAC’s leading distributors, plus senior executives from some of the region’s top retailers and e-tailers.

The results of the 2017 APAC Consumer Tech Channel Survey, which included responses from 43 distributors and 36 retailers, provides valuable data used as part of the channel audience recruitment process for this year’s event. This year’s survey was conducted from 27th June to 9th August 2017.

Painvin added: “Our mission is to give consumer tech brands access to the leading channel partners in high-growth markets in the APAC region. More than 150 executives representing more than 130 distributors are set to attend DISTREE APAC 2017. In addition, VIP retail and e-tail executives from across the region are invited, providing an extra value-add for exhibitors, creating more business opportunities for all attendees.”

DISTREE APAC’s channel audience will include delegates from the following markets in South East Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. SAARC countries of Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will also form part of the delegate base. Oceania-based channel partners from Australia and New Zealand will also receive invites, as will distributors and key retailers from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and China in North-Asia.
