Extreme adds Mayflex as MEA distributor

by Stuart Wilson, Monday 2 June 2008

Extreme Networks has signed up Mayflex Middle East as a distribution partner. Under the terms of the agreement, Mayflex, which describes itself a a cabling, networking ans IP security solutions distributor, will push Extreme kit across the Middle East and Africa. Mayflex will assist Extreme in terms of channel development and boosting overall sales.

Mayflex was the first distributor in the UK for Extreme Networks and has grown to be one of Extreme Networks’ largest partners over the last 10 years. This has been achieved by focus, experienced qualified technical engineers providing both pre and post sales support, and large stock holding of the Extreme product range, all of which will be replicated in the Middle East, according to the distributor.

Eddie Curran, Middle East sales manager at Extreme, commented: “We were looking for a distribution partner that has the technical expertise to assist the channel partners in design, proof of concept and sales training and Mayflex could happily fulfill all of these requirements.”

Mayflex will deliver the tools, programmes and support to assist the channel partners in promoting, selling and supporting the Extreme Networks product range. The channel will benefit from the partnership with enhanced hardware margins, service opportunities, a channel-focused sales model, simplified channel programme, minimal required resources and easy-to-use sales and support tools.

Extreme Networks designs, builds, and installs Ethernet infrastructure solutions. Mayflex is a privately owned distributor with a proven track record in partnering installers and integrators. Mayflex is a distributor for brands such as Excel, Brand-Rex, Belden, Extreme Networks, Aruba Networks, Mobotix, , APC MGE, Cooper B-Line, Fluke, Bosch, Panasonic and Raytec to name but a few.

CE ANALYSIS: The addition of a new distributor in the Middle East and Africa will obviously raise questions regarding the impact on Extreme’s existing partners covering this region. According to Extreme’s website, its current UAE distributors are Almasa Network Solutions and Online Distribution.
