Magirus picks up Netuitive rights

by Stuart Wilson, Friday 30 May 2008

European VAD outfit Magirus has struck a distribution deal with Netuitive, a provider of self-learning performance management software. Under the terms of the pan-European agreement, Magirus will distribute Netuitive SI for VMware product in Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK.

Magirus will focus on distributing, marketing and supporting Netuitive SI for VMware – a real-time, self-learning management tool for monitoring virtual environments. This software is aimed at resellers and integrators providing large-scale virtualisation solutions to major enterprises – typically 50 virtualised servers and above.

“We foresee significant potential in Europe for our self-learning technology and so far have only addressed the tip of the iceberg," said Robin Jackson, Netuitive’s European director of sales. "Magirus is an ideal partner for our European expansion, given their extensive market presence and virtualisation expertise.”

Although virtualisation offers enterprises many benefits such as server consolidation, increased server utilisation, flexibility in application testing and reduced energy bills, the virtual environment is more complex to manage than a physical one.

Unlike conventional monitoring tools, which work on pre-defined policies and rules to trigger alarms, Netuitive claims that its software requires no manual rules, scripts or thresholds. Instead, it self-learns the normal operating behaviour of the network and the various interrelationships in the virtual environment.

“We see a strong market need for this award-winning, self-learning technology which is a major step forward,” said Stefan Baumeister, business development director for virtualisation and open source at Magirus. “It is a natural add-on in the ecosystem that we have built around VMware and opens up new opportunities for experienced partners serving customers with major virtualised solutions. It makes it easier to diagnose and resolve problems early and so greatly reduces the burden and extra cost of administration.”

Magirus has established a dedicated team, offering technical skills, including pre and post-sales technical services, consultancy services and support with joint marketing and sales engagements. In the future, Magirus plans to provide training and certification services for Netuitive solutions.

Magirus has one of the largest virtualisation portfolios in the industry with strong vendor relationships including VMware, Vizioncore, Platespin, Datacore, Falconstor, Provision Networks and BEA. Also, the company is an authorised VMware training centre.
