USCT continues to expand its presence in Congo, with plans to open branches in at least two more provinces in the country.

Maen Khalil, manager at USCT, said: “We operate in both Kinshasa and Lubumbashi - cities of Congo DR. Our customers vary from retailers through to corporate customers and SMBs."

"We have more than 100 employees across both branches managing the sales and maintenance of a wide range of products including computer desktops, laptops, printers, computer accessories, networking, software solutions, security products and much more," he added.

USCT hopes to meet new supplier and discover new product lines at DISTREE Africa 2015, and views the event as an ideal vehicle to introduce the company to vendors and brands looking to build channel reach within the continent.

“We see significant potential in IT products and also related security solutions,” explained Khalil. “We make sure our products are imported from reliable sources. Most of them are presented with warranties included as well as after-sales support available from our service centre. Plus we aim to offer very competitive prices.”

“We are looking for suppliers that understand our market and the growing competition,” added Khalil. “We want them to provide the best support in terms of product quality, prices and services.”

The technology product landscape changes quickly and USCT is determined to stay ahead of the curve in terms of anticipating the needs of its customers.

“We want to increase and strengthen our partnerships with major IT vendors worldwide,” added Khalil. “We are planning on opening new branches in at least two additional provinces. Plus we are putting a real emphasis on the provision of IT support and services for our corporate clients.”

USCT already has partnerships in place with an array of major brands including HP, Acer, Dell, Oracle, Microsoft, Lenovo, APC and Kaspersky. The company is also a reseller for international brands such as Canon, Evolis, Accubanker, Eussonet, Toshiba, Panasonic, Apple and Samsung.

“There are still challenges in terms of competition and also the grey market,” said Khalil. “There are also issues with fake products and people trying to sell refurbished items as new. We also have to deal with limitations in terms of credit terms.”

“USCT works with major international companies and we have maintained our partnerships due to the commitment we have shown. All we are expecting from the new suppliers is to show us the same commitment as we explore new opportunities with them,” Khalil concluded.
