Solid Visions offers channel gateway to Zimbabwe

by Stuart Wilson, Wednesday 27 May 2015

DISTREE Africa 2015 will open up a wealth of new channel development opportunities for exhibitors. The event brings together the continent’s most influential technology and consumer electronics (CE) channel partners in one place at one time. Zimbabwe-based distributor Solid Visions has confirmed its participation at DISTREE Africa and will look to add new brands to its portfolio at the event.

Tendai Chingondo, business development manager at Solid Visions Technologies, said: “Solid Visions Technologies is an IT distribution company based in Harare, Zimbabwe. We are your gateway - the link between vendors and IT resellers in Zimbabwe.

As a distribution company, Solid Visions works through a network of more than 100 key IT resellers spread across Zimbabwe. Solid Visions is a dedicated channel company and does not sell direct to end-users. Currently, Solid Visions is an official distributor for Epson, Nikon, Verbatim and Targus in Zimbabwe. The company welcomes approaches from additional established brands looking to extend their channel reach in Zimbabwe.

“Our core business is ICT and we are ready to work with any serious vendor who will complement our current brands,” added Chingondo. “Our product portfolio ranges from projectors, printers, scanners, digital cameras and accessories, through to storage, laptop bags, wireless presenters and other accessories.”

Solid Visions will use its participation at DISTREE Africa 2015 to meet new vendors and negotiate new distribution deals for Zimbabwe. The event will also give the company access to new technologies and products and an opportunity to meet and exchange notes with other distributors from across Africa.

The distributor sees growth opportunities in multiple product categories including mobile devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones; storage; education-focused solutions such as projectors, and software.

As an established in-country distributor, Solid Visions has a strong and growing customer base of loyal resellers, a dedicated team and a passion for distributing high-quality brands. The company offers solid support for its vendors and is ready to assist with marketing collateral, advertising, training and channel programmes.

Chingondo added: “Our market is now getting more organised with resellers now working through the channel. Previously players did not respect the channel, but now they are realising the benefits of working through a channel. This trend will allow brands to grow since everyone stands to gain from a more structured approach including vendors, distributors, resellers and the end-users.”

Solid Visions hopes to increase its sales by 50% in 2015 and add at least six new brands to its portfolio. The company claims that Zimbabwe has an appetite for IT gadgets and this should drive growth for the foreseeable future. In addition, all university students are required to have mobile devices such as laptops, creating new sales opportunities.

The market in Zimbabwe does face challenges posed by grey products, high duties for selected IT products and limited marketing support from vendors.

Chingondo commented: “Zimbabwe is a growing market for IT solutions. The country is currently using multi-currencies - mainly the US dollar - which makes trade much simpler for us. As Solid Visions we are ready to partner with you to get your brands recognised in our country. We are your link to hundreds of small resellers in Zimbabwe.”

“We have a vast and increasing database of resellers and they are willing to carry any new brands to increase their revenues. With a proper channel and marketing support, your brands will certainly thrive in our market,” he concluded.
