Prestigio signs Ingram Micro Mexico as distributor

by Stuart Wilson, Friday 23 January 2015

Prestigio, an international manufacturer of mobile devices, consumer electronics and accessories, has struck a deal to distribute its tablets through Ingram Micro Mexico. Ruslan Matuzov, Business Development Manager Latin America at Prestigio, said: “Ingram Micro is the leading distributor in Mexico giving us access to the largest customer base.”

Ingram Micro Mexico has a customer base of approximately 13,000 companies. The initial tablet distribution deal will cover two models: a 7” Android tablet and a 10.1” Windows device. Both models use Intel chipsets.

“Ingram Micro Mexico covers the whole country with a distribution network that has access to all regions,” added Matuzov. “The size of the tablet market in Mexico was more than 3 million units in 2014, according to recent research.”

Prestigio and Ingram Micro Mexico will embark on joint marketing activities to raise in-country brand awareness. The two companies may look to extend the agreement to cover more product categories in future.

“We consider this agreement to be very important in bringing additional value to Prestigio brand awareness in Latin America,” added Matuzov.

The non-exclusive tablet distribution deal will target channel reach in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer channels. Ingram Micro Mexico gives Prestigio a strong platform with which to enter the national market and build market share.

The Prestigio brand has been growing for more than a decade with products available in more than 85 countries across the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
