Handytech eyes games growth in Brazil

by Stuart Wilson, Tuesday 21 October 2014

The games segment in Brazil continues to enjoy robust growth, creating new channel opportunities for vendors, distributors and retailers operating within the country. Brazil-based distributor Handytech, a participant at this week’s DISTREE Brazil & Latin America, is one of a number of companies looking to capitalise on growing demand for games systems and games accessories.

Adriano Darzé, sales director at Handytech, commented: “We have seen strong growth in the consumer smartphone market and a consequent decrease in sales of tablets and notebooks. The gamer segment is strong and we are seeing increased demand for gaming PCs because they offer a better price-benefit proposition compared to consoles in Brazil.”

During DISTREE Brazil & Latin America, Handytech will look to identify new business opportunities and also meet existing customers and suppliers. The event format unites senior executives from vendors, distributors and retailers in one place at one time.

“The core business of Handytech is the distribution of computer components, but we are always alert to market changes,” added Darzé. “We see strong growth in smartphones and accessories, as well as the gamer segment, so will give special focus on these product areas at DISTREE Latin America, showcasing brands such as BLU phones and smartphones, Kingston HyperX memory products, Corsair accessories, New Drive and Xtrike.”

“The key message we want to promote is that Handytech is a solid company, despite the difficulties that other players in the distribution market are going through, and we are fully focused on our customers. We strive for excellent customer service, offer a varied mix of products, efficient post-sales service and customer financing,” he added.

Handytech believes there are still issues impacting the development of distribution in Brazil today including tariff barriers, exchange rate instability and the availability of skilled employees. This week’s DISTREE Brazil & Latin America will give all delegates an opportunity to network with their peers and discuss the challenges and opportunities that the Brazilian channel currently faces.
