Sourcefire signs up Secureway

by Stuart Wilson, Thursday 24 April 2008

Threat management solutions vendor Sourcefire has signed a strategic distribution agreement with Dubai Internet City-based Middle East VAD Secureway. The deal extends Secureway’s channel offering in the enterprise intrusion detection and prevention solutions space.

“Partnering with Secureway in the Middle East is important to the continued success and growth of Sourcefire in EMEA,” said Anthony Perridge, EMEA channel director at Sourcefire. “Secureway’s expertise and reputation in the IT Security market will allow Sourcefire to support the growing demand for Sourcefire’s innovative security solutions in this region.”

Fari Boustantchi, CEO at Secureway, added: “We had been considering adding IPS to our IT security product portfolio for a while. Sourcefire is currently the leader in network intrusion prevention, additionally its alliance with Snort has long been recognised as the de facto standard for intrusion detection and prevention.”

Built on open source Snort, the Sourcefire 3D System uses a combination of endpoint, threat, network and user intelligence to provide organisations with the capability to defend their networks before attacks by proactively patching discovered vulnerabilities, during attacks by blocking, and after attacks have occurred by remediation to other devices to minimise damage, according to the vendor.

“Sourcefire combines the resources of the Snort community with the expertise of its vulnerability research team and the unique technologies they develop. End-users worldwide benefit from this combination by gaining the most effective network security available,” Boustantchi added.

“The partnership with Sourcefire clearly fits with Secureway’s strategy of introducing the leaders in IT security to the Middle East marketplace. We are pleased to offer Sourcefire to Middle East enterprise users and we will continue to introduce and distribute the best security solutions in their respective segments,” Boustantchi concluded.
