Computerlinks signs Siemens deal

by Stuart Wilson, Thursday 17 April 2008

Security and internet solutions distributor Computerlinks has struck a UK and Ireland distribution agreement with Siemens Enterprise Communications. The deal, which boosts Computerlinks unified communications portfolio, will specifically focus on Siemens’ HiPath Wireless portfolio but is not limited solely to this product range.

Siemens claims that it selected Computerlinks for the distributor’s strong capability in wireless and mobility solutions, its ability to launch products to the channel and its professional service offerings. The new products will complement Computerlinks’ existing vendor portfolio, which includes products from Citrix, Ipswitch and Juniper.

David Caughtry, e-business director at Computerlinks, said: “This is a significant deal. As the demand for mobile access to data, voice and video continues to grow, flexible wireless LAN/WAN infrastructures become increasingly important. The HiPath products satisfy many of our current Enterprise Wireless LAN end user demands, such as the requirement for a more flexible and mobile working environment for employees. This new relationship will contribute significantly to the continued growth of both organisations.”

Leon Mangan, sales director of indirect channels at Siemens Enterprise Communications, added: “Wireless networks present many different challenges to wired networks and it is important for our channel to work with a distribution partner that has experience and can provide accurate advice and support.

Computerlinks represent the ideal wireless LAN and enterprise mobility distribution partner for Siemens Enterprise Communications. Within the HiPath portfolio we have a truly unique and differentiated wireless, mobility and unified communications offering. Computerlinks is a trusted supplier to this sector, with a well-rounded service portfolio. The fit could not be better and I am very excited about the opportunity this presents both companies,” Mangan continued.

Siemens’ HiPath Wireless portfolio is an enterprise wireless LAN that provides a foundation for mobility, enabling users to communicate wherever they are, whenever they need to. It also provides flexible and unified communications with features that make managing diverse communications simple and cost effective, according to the vendor.

The HiPath product range also provides a complete range of enterprise wireless LAN security features allowing users to apply policies to features, such as intrusion protection, to support their business needs.
