Pinnacle Africa picks up Seagate rights

by Stuart Wilson, Monday 11 November 2013

Pinnacle Africa, one of Southern Africa’s largest distributors, has been appointed as an official distribution partner for Seagate. Pinnacle will distribute Seagate internal hard drives, reflecting its growing role in the components distribution channel. Pinnacle claims that it is an exciting time in the storage segment focused around developing areas such as solid state storage, cloud computing and mobile computing.

Tyrone Grüner, South Africa territory sales manager at Seagate, said: “This is an exciting time in the storage industry with Exabyte growth at almost 40% per year and rapidly evolving opportunities in many markets including mobile, cloud, NAS and surveillance.”

“Pinnacle’s understanding of the local market as well as their widespread portfolio of complimentary brands and products will be instrumental in capitalising on these opportunities to grow both our businesses in the region,” Grüner added.

Tim Humphreys-Davies, managing director of Pinnacle Africa, commented: “This is a very valuable vendor acquisition for Pinnacle, which strengthens our component offering considerably and we look forward to a longstanding strategic partnership with Seagate.”

Pinnacle Africa’s resellers will now have access to a wider range of ICT products, an increased stock holding as well as access to customer incentives available through Seagate partner programmes.

From A-brand vendors to start-ups, the DISTREE EMEA structure and reach offers business benefits and powerful return on investment.
