OpenSpan rouses Raby for EMEA mission

by Stuart Wilson, Thursday 3 April 2008

Service-oriented architecture platform player OpenSpan has appointed Steve Raby as VP sales in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). OpenSpan generated 40% of its 2007 sales from outside North America and the company is keen to realise the significant growth opportunities that exist in overseas markets. Raby will not only sell, he will also build out a European partner network.

“2007 was an extremely successful year for OpenSpan and as organisations continue to realize the powerful business benefits of integrating applications and automating business processes, global interest in the OpenSpan platform has continued to grow,” said Tom Leonard, EVP worldwide sales at OpenSpan.

“EMEA represents a number of the fastest growing locations for OpenSpan and we are excited to have Steve on board to help us respond to the market’s burgeoning demand for the OpenSpan Platform,” Leonard added.

Prior to joining OpenSpan, Raby was sales director for Northern Europe at Nuxeo, where he looked after sales for the company’s electronic content management applications outside of France. Raby’s CV also includes stints at Jboss (acquired by Red Hat in 2006) and several positions at Sun Microsystems including director of partner sales UK and Ireland.

“OpenSpan is the only company in the market to offer a comprehensive integration and automation platform that accelerates the realisation of SOA strategies,” said Raby. “Interest in the OpenSpan platform among EMEA organizations has exploded in the past six months and I’m looking forward to working with the company’s seasoned management team to respond to this demand and continue to expand OpenSpan’s presence overseas.”

Enterprises can use the OpenSpan Platform to integrate applications, automate business processes, extend functionality and build new composite applications in order to realise value on their IT investments.
